Lexus’s SUV lineup is expansive and offers something for nearly every luxury buyer. The NX Hybrid is a sharp compact SUV with great tech and fuel economy, though its cargo space is less generous than that of some others in its class. As it does with other vehicles in its catalog, Lexus offers an array of configurations for the NX, including F Sport models, an upgraded plug-in hybrid powertrain, and more.

What’s New for the 2023 Lexus NX Hybrid

Following a full redesign in 2022, Lexus left the NX alone for 2023. The SUV received no changes or new equipment, and it enters the model year as a carryover.

Design

Lexus has a particularly aggressive design language that is eye-catching and, for better or for worse, deeply polarizing. The SUV features an almost cartoonishly large spindle grille flanked by sharp headlights and Lexus’s arrow-shaped LED running lights. Around the back, the NX features a much tamer look, with the Lexus name spelled out and an LED taillight bar that stretches across the liftgate.

Powertrain

The 2023 NX Hybrid comes with a 2.5-liter inline-four paired with electric motors to produce a total of 239 horsepower. All-wheel drive (AWD) comes standard, and power hits the wheels through an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission (CVT). The plug-in hybrid NX450h+ gets the same 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, but it comes with a larger battery that combines with the electric motors for 302 horsepower. AWD and a CVT are standard, and the SUV’s battery pack holds enough juice for 37 miles of all-electric range.

Interior

The 2023 NX Hybrid comes with synthetic leather upholstery, but Lexus does offer the real thing in some configurations. Heated front seats also come standard, and buyers can upgrade with ventilation. Leather-trim is standard for the steering wheel and the shift knob, and Lexus equips black leather interior trim pieces.

Technology

An 9.8-inch touchscreen comes by default, bringing Bluetooth, SiriusXM radio, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ten speakers, a backup camera, voice controls, and more. The Luxury Package brings a 14-inch touchscreen with cloud-connected navigation and three years of connected services. The package also adds a power lift gate and ambient interior lighting.

Safety

The Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 comes with adaptive cruise control and curve speed management, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warnings, lane-departure alerts with steering assist, lane-tracing assist, road-sign recognition, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts, brake assist, eight airbags, and advanced traction control are also standard. The NX has unique electronic rear door latches that assist the safe-exit system and can prevent the doors from being opened if there’s an oncoming vehicle or cyclist.

Pricing

Pricing for the 2023 Lexus NX Hybrid starts at $43,105 after destination. The NX 450h+ starts at almost $58,000, and the range-topping NX450h+ F Sport starts at almost $59,000. Lexus keeps options to a minimum, but buyers can upgrade with a $1,100 power moonroof, a $6,140 Luxury Package, or a $3,050 Premium Package.
