The 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Velar is a sleek midsize luxury SUV. It combines capable and upscale Range Rover DNA with sophisticated road-going handling and performance. ## What’s New for the 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Velar The Velar was introduced for the 2018 model year. Land Rover has made minor changes to the model through the years, and this year is no different. For 2023, the HST trim replaces HSE. ## Design The 2023 Velar has a streamlined version of the Range Rover design language, including the blacked out pillars and the bold “Range Rover” lettering on the dash. The Velar comes standard with 19-inch alloy wheels. The R-Dynamic is available with 22-inch wheels, and the HST is available with 21-inch wheels. ## Powertrain There are three available powertrain options in the Range Rover Velar: the P250, P340, and P400. The P250 comes with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine putting out 247 horsepower. The P340 features an inline six-cylinder engine with an electric supercharge; it produces 335 horsepower. The P400 features a similar setup, but here, it’s tuned to put out 395 horsepower. An eight-speed automatic transmission routes power to standard all-wheel drive (AWD). The most efficient version of the Velar is the P250, which returns fuel economy of 20 mpg city, 26 highway, and 23 combined. The P400 returns fuel economy of 19 mpg city, 25 highway, and 21 combined. The Range Rover Velar requires premium fuel. ## Interior The 2023 Range Rover Velar comes standard with leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, push-button start, dual-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, and remote keyless entry. Buyers can select options such as a heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats, and heated rear seats. The Velar provides up to 62.7 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded. With the rear seats in use, the Velar still offers 30.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats. A power liftgate is standard equipment. A hands-free power liftgate is available. ## Technology Land Rover’s infotainment system is easy to use and has a minimal learning curve. The Velar comes standard with dual 10-inch touchscreens. The lower screen operates vehicle systems, and the upper screen operates entertainment functions, as well as the standard wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto. The 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Velar comes standard with a 12-speaker stereo system and is available with a 17-speaker upgraded sound system. ## Safety The Velar comes standard with forward collision avoidance, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high beams, front and rear parking sensors, and traffic-sign recognition.
