Is the 2023 Kia Carnival a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Kia Carnival earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

It stands out by making minivan practicality look more stylish than the segment stereotype usually suggests, while still delivering family-friendly usefulness. The Carnival’s appeal is strongest if you want space, convenience, and a more distinctive design without giving up the core minivan formula.

Trade-offs include the lack of all-wheel drive and a lifted suspension, and highway noise is another drawback to keep in mind.

Is the 2023 Kia Carnival reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Carnival’s appeal is reinforced by its strong value proposition, upscale feel, and practical family focus. It also carries Kia’s longest warranty in its class, which adds confidence for used buyers who want a lower-risk ownership experience.

Its powertrain is described as smooth and capable, with the transmission operating flawlessly in testing and the V6 supplying plenty of power even with a full cabin. Kia also emphasizes the model’s strong ownership value and comfort, especially for buyers who prioritize passenger space and convenience.

If you buy used, the main long-term risk is that the model’s missing all-wheel drive and hybrid options may matter more as mileage and weather demands increase.

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the vehicle has higher mileage or visible wear. Focus on cabin condition, tire wear, brake feel, and whether the tech and driver-assistance features operate as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

The SX Prestige adds eight-passenger seating as standard, with second-row VIP Lounge Seats moved into a no-cost seating package.

The SX trim adds the 12.3-inch digital instrument display, and the SX Prestige test vehicle also had dual-screen rear-seat entertainment.

• Deal availability: 33.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,479 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.33% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,866, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Kia Carnival's resale value?

The current average of $27,866 sits slightly below last year's $31,787.

That decline suggests the market has become more favorable for buyers, but it also means sellers may need to price more competitively to stand out. If you plan to sell later, the current softness could limit upside in the near term unless your vehicle is especially well equipped or exceptionally clean.

The model’s strong value proposition and broad family appeal should help support demand over time. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 Kia Carnival or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 33.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.33% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It blends upscale styling with strong value and family-friendly practicality.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $23,680, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $27,866 average.
• It was all-new and brought crossover styling with upscale passenger accommodations.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $31,750, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $27,866 average.
• It carries over unchanged with a strong driving experience and excellent warranty.

The bottom line: The 2023 is the best all-around choice if you want the strongest mix of style, value, and available tech. If your budget is tighter, the 2022 is the better price-first alternative, while the 2024 makes sense only if you specifically want the newer model-year pricing and can justify the premium.
