How much does the 2023 Kia Carnival cost?

Prices have softened 12.24% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,481 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of used Carnival options to compare.

Is the 2023 Kia Carnival a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Kia Carnival earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

The Carnival’s appeal comes from its stylish design, impressive technology, and excellent value for money. It also fits families well because it delivers minivan practicality without leaning into the boxy look many shoppers want to avoid.

The main trade-offs are that all-wheel drive is not available and there is no hybrid option. Highway noise is another drawback, so you should expect some compromise if you spend a lot of time at freeway speeds.

With 36.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a strong-value example.

Is the 2023 Kia Carnival reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Carnival’s overall package points to solid day-to-day dependability because it combines a strong value proposition with a well-rounded family-hauling setup. Its powertrain is described as smooth and capable, and the transmission is noted for operating flawlessly in normal use.

The cost-effectiveness notes also emphasize that Kia gives this model the longest warranty in its class, which is a useful ownership perk for used buyers. Even so, you should still budget for normal wear items and verify how the vehicle was maintained, especially if you plan to keep it for the long haul.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Kia Carnival?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper history review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on brakes, tires, and any signs of heavy family use, since this is the kind of vehicle that often sees frequent passenger and cargo duty.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX, EX, SX, and SX Prestige trims build on each other, with the base trim missing some of the higher-end tech and driver-assistance upgrades found higher up the range.
• Powertrain: You get a 3.5-liter V6 with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and the setup is tuned for strong everyday power rather than hybrid efficiency.
• Safety package: Kia Drive Wise features include forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-keeping assist; EX adds Junction Turning Detection and Highway Driving Assist, while SX adds a surround-view camera and Blind-Spot View Monitor.
• Infotainment: The SX trim adds a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation panel and 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and the system includes Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Kia Connect Ultimate connected services.
• Fuel efficiency: The Carnival is EPA-rated at 22 mpg in combined driving, and the test vehicle averaged 21.1 mpg on the evaluation loop.

Which 2023 Kia Carnival trim should I buy?

The 2023 Kia Carnival is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, EX, SX, and SX Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Carnival’s core style and family utility at the lowest price, but you’ll miss some of the more advanced convenience and driver-assistance features found higher up.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds Junction Turning Detection and Highway Driving Assist, giving you a meaningful safety and convenience upgrade without jumping all the way to the top.
• SX: This trim is the sweet spot if you want the biggest tech jump, since it adds the 12.3-inch digital instrumentation panel, the 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, the surround-view camera, and the Blind-Spot View Monitor.
• SX Prestige: This is the luxury-leaning choice, especially if you want the most upscale cabin feel and the strongest second-row comfort, though some equipment becomes package-dependent.

The safety package starts with strong standard driver-assistance coverage, and higher trims add useful extras rather than changing the Carnival’s basic mission.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Kia Carnival?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 36.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,481 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.24% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 82.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,564, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Kia Carnival's resale value?

The current average of $27,564 sits slightly below last year's $31,409.

That price movement suggests the Carnival has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stabilizes. If you buy at the current average or below, you may have less downside than someone who paid closer to the prior-year level.

The model’s strong value story and broad family appeal should help keep demand steady among used shoppers. Well-equipped examples with desirable features are likely to remain easier to move than bare-bones versions.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Kia Carnival safe?

The 2023 Carnival earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS for the 2022 calendar year.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Kia Drive Wise includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-keeping assist as standard equipment. EX adds Junction Turning Detection and Highway Driving Assist, while SX adds a surround-view camera and a camera-based Blind-Spot View Monitor.

One important caveat is that the standard headlights on all but the SX Prestige get a Poor rating for their performance. That makes trim choice especially important if safety equipment is high on your list.

Should I buy a 2023 Kia Carnival or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 36.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.24% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines stylish design, impressive technology, and excellent value for money.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $23,629, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $27,564 average.
• It blends crossover SUV styling with VIP-style seating and strong tech appeal.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $31,267, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $27,564 average.
• It carries over unchanged and emphasizes a great driving experience and excellent warranty.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, features, and market availability, the 2023 is the primary target. If your budget is tighter, the 2022 is the value play; if you want a newer carryover with the same basic formula, the 2024 is the alternative.
