About 2023 Jeep Wrangler 4xe
Overview
The 2023 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4xe is an off-road-ready SUV that’s truly ready for our electrified automotive future. It has a fuel-saving plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain that allows for up to 21 miles of all-electric driving and silent off-road running. For 2023, Jeep has added the Willys to the 4xe lineup, creating an affordable option with hybrid and plug-in capabilities. For this model year, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto have been added as standard equipment. Air conditioning is now standard as well. The Wrangler 4xe comes with a removable and retractable soft top. It’s also available with a removable hard top with individual roof panels, or with Jeep’s Sky One-Touch power-retractable soft top.
Trims for the Wrangler Unlimited 4xe are Willys, Sahara, Rubicon, and High Altitude. Standard features on the Willys include 17-inch aluminum wheels, 32-inch mud-terrain tires, Rubicon shocks and rock sliders, LED fog lights, an Alpine premium stereo system, and the easy-to-use Uconnect infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Sahara trim adds 20-inch alloy wheels, LED signature headlights, remote keyless entry, the upgraded 8.4-inch Uconnect touch screen, and the Selec-Trac full-time 4x4 system.
Moving up to the Rubicon adds 33-inch off-road all-terrain tires, blue tow hooks, blue interior accent stitching, front and rear locking differentials, and an electronically disconnecting front sway bar. The range-topping High Altitude trim adds unique 20-inch alloy wheels, a body-color hardtop, and premium Nappa leather upholstery.
The 2023 Jeep Wrangler 4xe combines a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a 400-volt battery pack and two electric motors. The whole system makes a combined 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque, matching the torque delivered by the Hemi V8 in the Wrangler Rubicon 392. The Wrangler 4xe comes standard with four-wheel drive (4WD). It has a silent-operation off-road mode, as well as hybrid, electric, and battery-saving driving modes.
The EPA measures PHEVS in terms of miles per gallon of gasoline equivalent, or MPGe. The Wrangler 4xe returns 49 MPGe, and when the 21 miles of electric range have been expended, the returns 20 mpg combined.
The Wrangler Unlimited 4xe is available with a number of driver-assistance features via various packages. You can select blind-spot monitoring, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, and rear parking sensors. But these features are not standard, and even with every one of them selected, the equipment list still falls well short of the array of driver-assistance features found on most modern vehicles.
Base MSRP for the 2023 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4xe is $53,995 for the new Willys trim. The Sahara trim starts at $55,260, and the Rubicon starts at $58,990. The range-topping High Altitude trim starts at $60,935. The Wrangler 4xe’s battery comes with an eight-year/100,000-mile warranty.

The Willys 4XE is a great entry level hybrid with basic conveniences such as heated seats, heated steering wheel and reverse camera. However, its missing park assist sensors, blind spot detection another comforts such as leather and power seats (consider higher end models for those others features). Drivers that live in colder climates, the OEM mudders (tires) are terrible for cold weather traction on pavement however Off-roading will be fun! Consider snow tires for winter if driven in the city.
