About 2023 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Plug-In
The 2023 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Plug-In is a refined compact SUV with a fuel-efficient powertrain that also delivers limited electric-only power. ## What’s New for the 2023 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Plug-In The Tucson Plug-In Hybrid, or PHEV, was introduced for the 2022 model year. It carries over into 2023 with minimal changes. ## Design Underscoring the interchangeability of its drivetrains, very little visually separates the Tucson PHEV from the [__hybrid version__](https://www.cargurus.com/research/2023-Hyundai-Tucson-Hybrid-c32568) and even from the [__conventionally powered Tucson__](https://www.cargurus.com/research/2023-Hyundai-Tucson-c32499). Both vehicles come with 19-inch alloy wheels. Both trims have LED headlights, while the Limited has a distinct look for its headlights. The Limited also has unique front and rear fascias. ## Powertrain A 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder works with an electric motor to put out a combined 261 horsepower and 224 pound-feet of torque. Power is routed through a six-speed automatic transmission to standard all-wheel drive (AWD). The Tucson PHEV has an electric range of 33 miles before it relies solely on hybrid power. The battery can be recharged in about two hours using a 240v Level 2 charger. The EPA measures electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles in terms of miles per gallon of gasoline equivalent, or MPGe. The 2023 Hyundai Tucson PHEV earns an estimated 80 MPGe. When the electric range is exhausted, it returns 35 combined MPG. ## Interior The Tucson PHEV provides up to 66.3 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded. With the rear seats in the upright position, buyers can find 31.9 cubic feet of cargo space. The Tucson PHEV comes equipped with a hands-free power liftgate. Standard features on the SEL include stain-resistant cloth upholstery, an eight-way power driver’s seat, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and remote keyless entry. Moving up to the Limited trim adds a panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, a power-adjustable front passenger’s seat, ventilated front seats, and heated rear seats. ## Technology The SEL trim comes with four USB ports, wireless device charging, and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto. Moving up to the Limited trim adds a fully digital instrument panel, as well as a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen, though you lose the wireless function for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You’ll have to connect your phone via USB to use these features. ## Safety Standard driver-assistance tech for the 2023 Tucson PHEV includes forward collision avoidance, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, driver-attention monitoring, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. It also comes with a system that alerts occupants to approaching traffic before exiting the vehicle. The Limited trim adds front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree parking camera system, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and a blind-spot camera system. The Limited also includes a remote parking feature, which Hyundai calls Smart Park. ## Pricing At the time of this writing, the 2023 Hyundai Tucson Plug-In Hybrid is $37,300 for the SEL trim. The Limited starts at $44,650. The Tucson PHEV is backed by a 10-year/10,000-mile powertrain warranty.
