Is the 2023 Genesis GV80 a good car?

The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with repeated praise for the GV80’s long-term appeal and the confidence it inspires. The expert evaluation also emphasizes the brand’s strong warranty coverage and complimentary scheduled maintenance, which help reduce early ownership friction.

Genesis includes three years/36,000 miles of complimentary scheduled maintenance, which is a useful ownership perk. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the specific vehicle has been maintained properly and that its tech and driver-assistance features work as intended.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Genesis GV80?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 88% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free status does not replace a full inspection. Pay close attention to the condition of the cabin tech, the driver-assistance systems, and any signs that the vehicle has been used heavily. Since the GV80 is positioned as a luxury SUV, you’ll want to make sure the features you expect are actually present and functioning.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Standard 19-inch wheels are part of the base setup, while the Prestige trim adds 22-inch alloy wheels. The cabin is already spacious and luxurious, but the higher trim brings a more upscale visual presence.
• Powertrain: You get a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 300 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque, or a turbo 3.5-liter V6 with 375 hp and 391 lb-ft. Both pair with an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning, lane-keeping assist and follow, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and collision avoidance, and adaptive cruise control. Highway Drive Assist is also included, and the blind-spot camera view in the gauge cluster is a standout feature.
• Infotainment: All trims get a 14.5-inch touchscreen. The system also includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but they are not wireless. A 12.3-inch 3D digital gauge cluster is available on the tester, along with a head-up display.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA rates it at 18 mpg city, 23 mpg highway, and 20 mpg combined. In testing, it averaged 21.5 mpg over 330 miles.

Which 2023 Genesis GV80 trim should I buy?

The 2023 Genesis GV80 is offered in 3 trim levels: Standard, Advanced, Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• Standard: This is the trim to start with if you want the GV80’s core strengths at the lowest entry point. You still get the upscale design, standard all-wheel drive, and the 14.5-inch touchscreen, so it covers the essentials well.
• Advanced: This is the best-value choice if you want more luxury and convenience without jumping all the way to the top. It should be the trim to focus on if you want a stronger balance of features and price.
• Prestige: Choose this if you want the most upscale presentation, including the 22-inch alloy wheels mentioned in the evaluation. It suits you best if appearance and maximum feature content matter more than value.

Safety content highlights a broad standard driver-assistance suite, so even lower trims are well equipped.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Genesis GV80?

The market looks selective but workable if you’re shopping carefully.

• Deal availability: 38.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,198 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.96% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 88.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $38,774, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Genesis GV80's resale value?

The current average of $38,777 sits slightly below last year's $44,551.

That drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. If you plan to sell later, the current pricing trend means you should expect some depreciation pressure in the near term.

Even so, the GV80’s strong value proposition and luxury appeal should help it stay relevant with used shoppers. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Genesis GV80 safe?

The 2023 Genesis GV80 earns a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA, including five-star ratings for side crash and four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The GV80 comes standard with a broad suite of driver-assistance features, including forward collision warning, lane-keeping assist and follow, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and collision avoidance, and adaptive cruise control. It also adds Highway Drive Assist, plus a blind-spot camera view that streams into the digital gauge cluster.

The main caveat is that Highway Drive Assist can struggle when visibility is poor, especially when the sun is directly ahead. The IIHS also rated the headlights and LATCH system as Acceptable, which is worth keeping in mind if those details matter to you.

Should I buy a 2023 Genesis GV80 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 38.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 88% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.96% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It offers strong value, upscale design, and a broad mix of standard luxury and safety features.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $44,690, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $38,777 average.
• It adds a fresher take on the same stylish, safe, and mostly rewarding formula.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2023 is the smarter buy because it delivers the GV80 experience at a lower average price and with strong market availability. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model year, the 2024 is the secondary path, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2023.
