Used 2023 GMC Hummer EV Pickup for Sale near Arizona

Is the 2023 GMC Hummer EV Pickup a good car?

The 2023 GMC Hummer EV Pickup earns a 6.7/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Technology and Safety.

It stands out as a supertruck with serious straight-line punch and genuine off-road ability, and it also offers a spacious cabin that helps balance its rugged image with everyday usability. Those strengths make it appealing if you want an electric pickup that feels distinctive and capable.

The trade-offs are real, though: it carries more than a few extra pounds, and its efficiency is much worse than expected. It also lacks a spare tire and is under-braked, so you’re getting capability and presence with meaningful compromises.

Good and great deals account for 26.4% of listings, which suggests there is at least some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 GMC Hummer EV Pickup reliable?

The 2023 GMC Hummer EV Pickup is presented as a heavy, highly specialized electric truck rather than a simple, low-complexity commuter. The overview emphasizes its extreme weight and poor efficiency, while the test-drive notes reinforce that it’s a vehicle with a lot of hardware and a lot of mass to manage.

Its performance notes point to a 205-kWh battery pack, a 300-kW peak charging rate, and a home charging setup that still takes 12 hours to fill the battery. That combination suggests the truck is built around big-energy use and big-energy replenishment, not minimal operating cost.

The cost-effectiveness notes also make clear that efficiency is a weak point, which matters for long-term ownership because you may face higher charging costs and more sensitivity to how and where you charge. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is living with an expensive, heavy EV whose operating costs and wear considerations are less forgiving than those of a more conventional truck.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 GMC Hummer EV Pickup?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially because this truck’s hardware is complex and its off-road use can be harder on components than ordinary street driving. Focus on overall condition, charging behavior, and signs of hard use, since a vehicle this heavy and capability-focused can hide expensive wear.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Edition 1 tester is described as having a hard-plastic-leaning interior, though the leather seats are comfortable and heated and cooled. The base setup also keeps physical buttons and knobs for key functions, which is useful if you prefer simpler controls.
• Powertrain: The truck uses three electric motors producing a combined 1,000 horsepower and north of 1,000 lb-ft of torque, with four-wheel drive and a GMC-estimated 0-60 mph time of three seconds in Watts to Freedom mode. The notes also emphasize that the truck is extremely heavy, which affects braking and efficiency.
• Safety package: Super Cruise is available, and the standard safety equipment includes blind-spot monitoring, rear emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, forward collision avoidance, and the Ultravision suite of 18 cameras. Ultravision includes two waterproof underbody cameras and a top-down view, but the truck’s safety content also notes that the Edition 1 has not yet been rated by IIHS or NHTSA.
• Infotainment: The truck has a 13.4-inch infotainment touchscreen, Google Maps built in, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, and a reconfigurable digital gauge cluster.
• Range & charging: The battery is described as 205 kWh, with an estimated 350 miles of range. DC fast charging peaks at 300 kW, and GMC says that can add 100 miles in 10 minutes, though the battery may need up to 30 minutes of conditioning first. Home charging uses an 11.5-kW onboard charger and takes 12 hours.
• Battery health: As with any used EV, you should check battery state-of-health, confirm how the truck has typically been charged, and look for evidence of frequent DC fast charging or repeated deep discharge. Also verify how much of the battery warranty remains so you know what protection you still have.

Which 2023 GMC Hummer EV Pickup trim should I buy?

The 2023 GMC Hummer EV Pickup is offered in 1 trim level: Edition 1.

Here's the short version:

The Edition 1 is the only trim identified here, so your decision is less about choosing between trims and more about deciding whether the Hummer EV’s unique mix of huge power, off-road hardware, and high operating cost fits your needs. It brings the truck’s standout capability and tech, but it also comes with the same efficiency and braking compromises noted above.

The safety package includes standard blind-spot monitoring, rear emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, forward collision avoidance, and the Ultravision camera suite.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 GMC Hummer EV Pickup?

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Clean inventory: 91.5% of listings are accident-free.

Is the 2023 GMC Hummer EV Pickup safe?

The 2023 GMC Hummer EV Pickup has not yet been rated by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard safety equipment includes blind-spot monitoring, rear emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, forward collision avoidance, and the Ultravision suite of 18 cameras. That camera system includes two waterproof underbody cameras and a top-down view, which is especially useful for tight spaces and off-road driving.

One caveat is that the truck is described as under-braked, so the forward-collision and braking aids are especially relevant. Super Cruise is available, but the notes also suggest caution about relying too heavily on automated braking in a vehicle this heavy.

Should I buy a 2023 GMC Hummer EV Pickup or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 26.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• The 2023 stands out as a supertruck with serious straight-line punch and genuine off-road ability, while also offering a spacious cabin.

The bottom line: If you want the Hummer EV’s distinctive personality, huge power, and off-road hardware, the 2023 is the right path. If you’re more price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby model years for a better value proposition, since this truck’s efficiency and operating costs remain a major part of the ownership equation.
