Used 2023 GMC Canyon for Sale nearMinneapolis, MN

How much does the 2023 GMC Canyon cost?

Prices have softened 6.94% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,992 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 GMC Canyon a good car?

Yes — the 2023 GMC Canyon earns a 4.6/5 user rating, and its expert rating is 7.33/10. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its luxurious interior, solid performance, easy driving character, and stylish design. The Canyon also stands out as a good fit if you want a midsize truck that feels more upscale than basic work-truck alternatives.

The trade-offs are that value is a weak point and advanced safety features are not standard. Even so, the Canyon’s premium positioning and strong equipment list make sense if you want a more refined midsize truck experience.

Good and great deals account for 36.7% of listings, so there is some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 GMC Canyon reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a truck that feels solid, dependable, and easy to live with over time. The expert evaluation also highlights a quiet cabin and a feeling of solidity that is rare in body-on-frame vehicles.

GMC backs the Canyon with a three-year, 36,000-mile basic warranty and a five-year, 60,000-mile powertrain warranty, which helps reduce early ownership risk. For used buyers, the main long-term concern is making sure the truck was maintained properly, especially given its premium pricing and more complex equipment.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 GMC Canyon?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the truck’s electronics, drivability, and any signs of off-road use or hard towing. Pay close attention to condition, since this model’s premium positioning means repairs and cosmetic wear can matter more to resale value.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Elevation, AT4, Denali, and AT4X each bring a different mix of stance, luxury, and capability. The base Elevation skips some entry-level features found on the Chevy Colorado, while Denali adds the nicest interior materials and AT4X brings the most serious off-road hardware.
• Powertrain: Every Canyon uses a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic. Rear-wheel drive is limited to the Elevation, while 4WD is optional on Elevation and standard on Denali, AT4, and AT4X.
• Safety package: The standard Canyon Pro Safety Package includes automatic emergency braking with front pedestrian braking and cyclist detection, automatic high beams, a following distance indicator, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, and forward collision warning. Rear cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, blind-zone steering assist, rear park assist, adaptive cruise control, rear pedestrian alert, surround-view camera, and a Safety Alert Seat are added through higher packages or higher trims.
• Infotainment: You get an 11.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus Google Built-In. Elevation and AT4 use an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, while Denali and AT4X get an 11-inch cluster; Denali and AT4X also add a 6.3-inch head-up display and wireless phone charging.
• Fuel efficiency: The base RWD Elevation is rated at 20 mpg combined (18 mpg city, 23 mpg highway). With 4WD, the Elevation, AT4, and Denali are rated at 19 mpg combined (17 mpg city, 21 mpg highway), while the AT4X is rated at 18 mpg combined (17 mpg city, 20 mpg highway).

Which 2023 GMC Canyon trim should I buy?

The 2023 GMC Canyon is offered in 4 trim levels: Elevation, Denali, AT4, and AT4X.

Here's the short version:

• Elevation: This is the entry point, and it makes the most sense if you want the Canyon’s redesign, standard tech, and lower starting price without paying for luxury or off-road extras. It’s the best-value choice if you mainly want the upscale look and modern cabin.
• Denali: This is the trim to choose if you want the most premium interior, with leather upholstery, open-pore wood trim, chrome accents, and standard 4WD. It suits you best if comfort and appearance matter more than price.
• AT4: This is the better pick if you want off-road capability without going all the way to the most extreme version. It adds a two-speed transfer case and a more rugged setup, making it the sweet spot for buyers who want capability and everyday usability.
• AT4X: This is the most hardcore Canyon, with front and rear electronic lockers, skid plates, 33-inch mud-terrain tires, Multimatic spool-valve dampers, and Baja drive mode. Choose it if you want the most serious off-road hardware and can live with the higher price.

The standard Canyon Pro Safety Package is included across the lineup, while higher trims add more advanced driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 GMC Canyon?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,992 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.94% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 89.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $38,482, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 GMC Canyon's resale value?

The current average of $38,482 sits slightly below last year's $41,350.

That softer pricing suggests the Canyon has become a little easier to buy than it was a year ago, which can help you avoid overpaying now. For a future seller, though, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on trim, condition, and equipment.

Because this model is positioned as a premium midsize truck, well-kept examples with desirable features should hold buyer interest better than stripped-down or heavily worn trucks. Strong demand for the Canyon’s upscale image can help support resale, but the premium starting price means depreciation still matters.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 GMC Canyon safe?

The 2023 GMC Canyon does not have published IIHS or NHTSA crash-test ratings in the available data.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard Canyon Pro Safety Package includes automatic emergency braking with front pedestrian braking and cyclist detection, automatic high beams, a following distance indicator, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, and forward collision warning. Elevation and AT4 can add rear cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, blind-zone steering assist, rear park assist, adaptive cruise control, rear pedestrian alert, and a surround-view camera through optional packages, while Denali and AT4X make those features standard along with a Safety Alert Seat.

A key caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard on every trim, so you need to pay close attention to package content if safety tech matters to you.

Should I buy a 2023 GMC Canyon or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.94% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The redesign brings a more upscale cabin, stronger standard tech, and a more premium midsize-truck feel.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $30,172, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $38,482 average.
• It offers a broader trim spread and a more budget-friendly entry point.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $39,819, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $38,482 average.
• It adds an even more capable off-road package and a stronger standard-equipment impression.

The bottom line: If you want the redesigned Canyon’s upscale feel and modern tech, the 2023 is the right target. If price matters most, the 2022 is the better value play. If you want the most capability and can spend more, the 2024 is the stronger upgrade path.
