All engines come paired with a ten-speed automatic and either rear- or four-wheel drive (RWD or 4WD). The appeal of a full-size, body-on-frame SUV for many is the capability and towing. The Tahoe can carry up to 1,746 pounds of payload in certain configurations and can tow up to 8,400 pounds. That’s as much as some pickup trucks, but remember that payload ratings also include passenger weight, so it’s not a great idea to load the Tahoe down with people and then try to carry a heavy load of cargo in back. The 2023 Tahoe hasn’t received full crash test ratings yet, but Chevrolet loads it up with advanced safety gear.
