Is the 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

The overview frames it as a performance-focused full-size luxury SUV that still gives you big power, plenty of space, and a comfortable seating position. It also stands out for combining family-hauling and towing duties with brisk acceleration and handling, which is unusual for a vehicle this large.

The main trade-offs are poor fuel economy and a high starting price. Even so, the market share of good and great deals suggests you may have some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview and test-drive notes point to a vehicle that blends familiar Escalade strengths with serious performance hardware, so you are not giving up the core luxury-SUV formula to get the V-Series experience. The supercharged V8, standard all-wheel drive, and robust towing capability also suggest a powertrain built for heavy-duty use.

The performance notes describe the engine as hand-built and the overall setup as capable of strong acceleration, while the ownership side points to a 6-year/70,000-mile powertrain warranty. If you plan to buy used, the biggest long-term risk is that this kind of high-output luxury SUV can be expensive to fuel and maintain.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a vehicle history report on any listing you like, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection from a shop that knows luxury SUVs and high-output V8s. Focus on tire wear, brake condition, suspension behavior, and whether the cabin electronics and driver-assistance features work as intended.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Escalade-V stands apart with revised lower front and rear fascias, dark 22-inch wheels, and V badges, while the cabin adds a 38-inch curved OLED display, semi-Aniline premium leather, Zebra-wood inlays, heated and ventilated 16-way front seats, massage front seats, a 36-speaker stereo, rear-seat entertainment, and a panoramic sunroof. Those features help explain why it feels more special than the standard Escalade.
• Powertrain: You get an intercooled and supercharged 6.2-liter V8 with 682 horsepower and 653 pound-feet of torque, routed through a 10-speed automatic transmission to standard all-wheel drive. The setup is tuned for strong acceleration, responsive handling, and serious towing ability.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-collision avoidance, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, reverse automatic braking, rear cross-traffic alert, an HD surround-view parking monitor, a head-up display, night vision, augmented reality display, and Super Cruise hands-free driving with automatic lane change. Super Cruise still requires you to stay attentive.
• Infotainment: The curved OLED setup includes a 16.9-inch central touchscreen, a smaller left-side touchscreen for trip and display controls, standard navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay, and wireless Android Auto. The system also supports a premium 36-speaker AKG audio setup.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA has not yet released fuel economy estimates for the 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V, and the model requires premium fuel.

Which 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V trim should I buy?

The 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V is offered in 1 trim level: Escalade-V.

Here's the short version:

The Escalade-V is the trim to buy if you want the full V-Series experience without stepping down to a lesser version. It bundles the supercharged V8, standard all-wheel drive, the curved OLED display, the premium audio system, rear-seat entertainment, and the full safety and driver-assistance suite into one package.

Because there is only one trim, your decision is less about choosing between versions and more about deciding whether the performance and luxury content justify the price and fuel costs. If they do, this is the one to get.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 37.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 293 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.34% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 89.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $104,577, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V's resale value?

The current average of $104,577 sits slightly below last year's $117,949.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favorable point, but it also means future resale will depend heavily on how well the vehicle is equipped and maintained. A well-kept example with desirable features and clean history should be easier to move later than one with visible wear or a questionable record.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V safe?

The 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

It comes standard with a broad driver-assistance suite that includes forward-collision avoidance, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, reverse automatic braking, rear cross-traffic alert, and an HD surround-view parking monitor. You also get a head-up display, night vision, augmented reality display, and Super Cruise hands-free driving with automatic lane change.

Super Cruise is a major highlight, but it still requires you to stay attentive and monitor your surroundings. That means the system is helpful, not a substitute for active driving.

Should I buy a 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 37.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.34% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 model brings the first Escalade-V formula, combining family-hauling and towing duties with brisk acceleration, handling, and Super Cruise automatic lane change.

The bottom line: If you want the first year of the Escalade-V’s full-size performance-luxury formula, the 2023 is the one to target. If you are more price-sensitive, you can wait and compare nearby model years, but the 2023 already offers a compelling mix of performance, technology, and safety equipment.
