How much does the 2023 Buick Encore GX cost?

Prices have softened 6.13% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,935 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Buick Encore GX a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Buick Encore GX earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 6.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Drivers consistently praise its comfort, safety features, and handling, and they also point to its compact size, luxury features, and good value for the money. In practical terms, that lines up well with Buick’s positioning of this model as an easygoing, approachable small crossover.

The trade-offs are clear: performance is fairly pedestrian, and fuel economy is poor. That makes it a better fit if you want a comfortable daily driver than if you care most about quick acceleration or efficiency.

The model’s role as Buick’s entry-level crossover also matters here, because it aims to deliver a simple, premium-leaning experience rather than a flashy one. Good and great deals account for 38.1% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Buick Encore GX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers describe the Encore GX as dependable in everyday use, with comfort and safety features that help it feel like a trustworthy small crossover. The user feedback also points to good value and a generally positive ownership experience, which supports the idea that it can be a solid long-term choice.

The expert review adds that the Encore GX delivers a comfortable ride and a quiet cabin, both of which are traits that usually help a vehicle feel well sorted over time. It also notes standard active noise cancellation, which reinforces the sense of refinement.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the specific example has been maintained well and equipped the way you want.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Buick Encore GX?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. A pre-purchase inspection is worth prioritizing, especially if you want to confirm that the drivetrain, brakes, and electronics are in good shape. Focus on condition and equipment level, since this model’s appeal depends heavily on comfort and convenience features.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes Preferred, Select, and Essence, and the base trim is the one most likely to leave out some of the nicer comfort and convenience touches. The top trim adds leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, and an eight-way power front passenger seat.
• Powertrain: You can choose between a 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine with 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque, or an optional 1.3-liter turbo-three with 155 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive is standard, while all-wheel drive is available with the 1.3-liter engine.
• Safety package: Standard driver-assistance features include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and Teen Driver. Adaptive cruise control, automatic park assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, a 360-degree camera system, and a rearview camera mirror are available in option packages, so check whether the example you’re considering has them.
• Infotainment: Every model gets an 8-inch touchscreen, a 4.2-inch driver information display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hotspot, SiriusXM satellite radio, and two front USB ports. A built-in navigation system, head-up display, wireless phone charging, and an eight-speaker Bose audio system are optional.
• Fuel efficiency: The 1.2-liter FWD model is rated at 29 mpg city and 31 mpg highway, while the 1.3-liter FWD version is rated at 29 mpg city and 32 mpg highway. AWD models with the 1.3-liter engine are rated at 26 mpg city and 29 mpg highway.

Which 2023 Buick Encore GX trim should I buy?

The 2023 Buick Encore GX is offered in 3 trim levels: Preferred, Select, Essence.

Here's the short version:

• Preferred: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Encore GX’s core comfort and tech without paying for extras you may not need. It’s the trim to target if you’re shopping on price and mainly want the standard safety and infotainment setup.
• Select: This is the trim to watch if you want a better balance of equipment and value. It should give you more of the features that make the Encore GX feel upscale without pushing you all the way to the top of the range.
• Essence: This is the best choice if you want the most complete version of the Encore GX, especially for comfort-focused features like leather upholstery and the power-adjustable front seats. It suits you best if you plan to keep the vehicle for a while and want the most premium-feeling cabin.

Safety-package features such as blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, automatic park assist, and the 360-degree camera system are not standard, so check each vehicle carefully.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Buick Encore GX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 38.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,935 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.13% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 86.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,631, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Buick Encore GX's resale value?

The current average of $20,631 sits slightly below last year's $21,978.

That price movement suggests the Encore GX has softened enough to give used buyers some negotiating room, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market. If you buy well now, you may be starting from a more realistic price point than someone who bought when values were higher.

The model’s broad appeal as a comfortable, easy-to-use small crossover should help support demand, especially among shoppers who want a premium-leaning daily driver without moving up to a larger SUV. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Buick Encore GX safe?

The 2023 Buick Encore GX earns Good ratings in all IIHS crash tests and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in frontal and side crash tests and four-star ratings in rollover.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assistance features include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and Teen Driver. If you want more advanced assistance, features like adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, automatic park assist, a 360-degree camera system, and the rearview camera mirror are available only in option packages.

One caveat is that child-seat anchor ease of use scored lower than the crash-test results, so families should pay close attention to installation and fit when shopping used.

Should I buy a 2023 Buick Encore GX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 38.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.13% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines comfort, cargo space, and easy-to-use technology in Buick’s entry-level crossover.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $18,806, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $20,631 average.
• It offers a stylish, tech-friendly crossover with standard advanced safety features.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $21,791, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $20,631 average.
• It brings a refreshed look, a flashy new touchscreen, and impressive cargo space.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of current pricing, inventory, and owner satisfaction, the 2023 is the safer default choice. If your priority is spending less, the 2022 is the value play; if you want the newer refresh and can pay more, the 2024 is worth a look.
