Is the 2023 BMW X5 M a good car?

Yes — 5/5 is a strong user rating for this model year. The 2023 BMW X5 M is positioned as the high-performance version of BMW’s midsize luxury SUV, and it combines serious straight-line and handling capability with the practicality and upscale feel of a luxury SUV. Is the 2023 BMW X5 M reliable?

The 2023 BMW X5 M is described as part of a broader X5 lineup that is not cheap to run compared with some brands, so you should expect ownership costs to matter as much as the purchase price. Its appeal comes from strong performance and a well-equipped, modern cabin, but used buyers should plan carefully for the higher-cost side of luxury SUV ownership.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 BMW X5 M?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should prioritize a history report first, then focus your inspection on condition, maintenance records, and any signs of prior damage or heavy use. Because this is a high-performance luxury SUV, a careful pre-purchase inspection matters even more than usual. Pay close attention to how the vehicle presents overall, since the best used example is one that has been maintained consistently and shows clean, well-documented ownership.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 BMW X5 M?

It looks like a buyer’s market if you’re shopping carefully, with softer pricing and a meaningful share of discounted listings.

• Deal availability: 40.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 149 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.16% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $69,863, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 BMW X5 M's resale value?

The current average of $69,898 sits slightly below last year's $77,807.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more affordably now but may also limit short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key is to buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition so you preserve as much value as possible. A model with broad appeal and strong demand tends to hold up better when it comes time to trade or sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 BMW X5 M or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 40.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.16% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should focus on the 2023 if you want the X5 M’s performance-first character and you find a clean example at a price that reflects the softer market. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may broaden your options, but the 2023 already gives you a strong mix of inventory, deal availability, and buyer satisfaction.
