How much does the 2023 BMW X1 cost?

Prices have softened 5.62% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,041 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2023 BMW X1 a good car?

Yes — the 2023 BMW X1 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Form and function.

The X1 stands out as a small luxury crossover that feels zippy and fun while still delivering useful capability and plenty of cargo space. Standard all-wheel drive adds all-weather appeal, and the premium interior materials help it feel upscale for the segment.

The main trade-offs are that some advanced safety features are not standard, and the features many shoppers want can push the price up significantly.

With 38.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 BMW X1 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The X1’s appeal comes from its polished cabin, standard all-wheel drive, and strong everyday usability, which all support confidence in day-to-day ownership. Its expert evaluation also highlights that it feels fun to drive while still bringing real utility.

The performance setup is described as strong and capable, with the newest X1 gaining a meaningful power boost and a more engaging dual-clutch transmission. BMW also notes that the X1 is the most affordable AWD BMW, which can help make ownership feel more approachable.

If you buy used, the biggest long-term risk is ending up with a higher-priced example that has the options you want but also more complexity and cost to maintain.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 BMW X1?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any listing you’re considering and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the vehicle has higher mileage or a long option list. Focus on overall condition, because the X1’s appeal depends heavily on how well the cabin, electronics, and driver-assistance features have been maintained.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The xDrive28i is the only trim level, and it already brings standard all-wheel drive, premium interior materials, and a polished cabin feel. The main gap to watch is that some advanced safety features are not standard.
• Powertrain: The 2.0-liter twin-turbo four-cylinder makes 241 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, and it pairs with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. It is rated at 25 mpg city, 34 highway, and 28 combined.
• Safety package: Active blind-spot detection is standard and includes exit warning, while front-collision warning includes pedestrian- and cyclist-detection with brake intervention. Active Driving Assistant Professional adds speed limit assist, extended traffic-jam assistant, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control with stop & go.
• Infotainment: The BMW Curved Display combines a 10.7-inch infotainment screen and a 10.25-inch driver display. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, and Live Cockpit Plus is standard.
• Fuel efficiency: The X1 is rated at 25 mpg city, 34 highway, and 28 combined.

Which 2023 BMW X1 trim should I buy?

The 2023 BMW X1 is offered in 1 trim level: xDrive28i.

Here's the short version:

The xDrive28i is the trim to buy because it is the only one available and already gives you the core X1 formula: standard all-wheel drive, strong performance, premium cabin materials, and a well-rounded tech setup. If you want the best value, this is also the best-value trim by default, since there is no lower or higher gas trim to compare against.

Safety-wise, the standard package is solid, but some advanced driver-assistance features remain optional, so you should pay close attention to how a specific used example is equipped.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 BMW X1?

• Deal availability: 38.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,041 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.62% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 89.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $30,289, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 BMW X1's resale value?

The current average of $30,289 sits slightly below last year's $32,094.

That softer pricing can work in your favor if you are buying now, but it also means a future seller may need to price competitively to stand out. The current year-round range suggests the market has already adjusted downward, so a clean, well-equipped example should matter more than trying to hold out for a premium.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 BMW X1 safe?

Active blind-spot detection is standard, and it includes exit warning to help alert occupants to approaching hazards when opening the door. The standard front-collision warning system also includes pedestrian- and cyclist-detection with brake intervention.

BMW’s Active Driving Assistant Professional adds speed limit assist, extended traffic-jam assistant, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control with stop & go. Should I buy a 2023 BMW X1 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 38.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.62% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The all-new third-generation X1 brings more capability and plenty of cargo space while staying zippy and fun to drive.

The bottom line: If you want the newest X1 with the strongest mix of performance, utility, and standard all-wheel drive, the 2023 is the right path. If you are more price-sensitive, you can still shop carefully within this year’s inventory and focus on clean, well-equipped examples that land near the low end of the range.
