Is the 2023 BMW M2 a good car?

Yes — the 2023 BMW M2 earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Performance and Technology.

It stands out as a more focused performance machine that still balances intensity with everyday usefulness. The test-drive data points to blistering acceleration, scalpel-like handling, a functional cockpit, an actually-usable trunk, and easy-to-use technology.

The main trade-offs are a stiff ride in normal driving and a bit of effort to enter and exit the vehicle. Its styling is also polarizing, so if you want a sports car that is more about driver connection than broad appeal, this one fits that brief well.

Good and great deals account for 36.2% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 BMW M2 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2023 BMW M2 is presented as a focused performance car that still manages to work as a daily driver, and its standard equipment and usable cabin support that role. The performance data also points to a robust powertrain setup with rear-wheel drive, a twin-turbo inline-six, and an active limited-slip differential.

Its dependability story is helped by the fact that the car is built around straightforward performance hardware rather than a complicated electrified setup. If you buy used, the main long-term ownership risk is that a car this performance-oriented may have been driven hard, so condition and maintenance history matter more than mileage alone.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a performance coupe that may have seen spirited use. Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The standard M2 already includes dual-zone automatic climate control, push-button start, heated front seats, Vernasca leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, and a power sunroof. • Safety package: Standard driver assistance includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian and cyclist detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, traffic sign recognition, front and rear parking sensors, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. The available Lighting Package adds automatic high beams and adaptive LED headlights, while active cruise control that can stop and go with traffic is only available with the automatic transmission.
• Infotainment: BMW’s iDrive 8 setup uses a 10.25-inch touchscreen paired with a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument panel. It includes wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto, plus voice control and a rotary controller for easier operation.
• Fuel efficiency: Fuel economy is 16 mpg city, 24 highway, and 19 combined with the six-speed manual, and 16 mpg city, 23 highway, and 19 combined with the automatic. The BMW M2 requires premium fuel.
