How much does the 2023 BMW 5 Series cost?

Prices have softened 7.91% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,395 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 BMW 5 Series a good car?

Yes — the 2023 BMW 5 Series earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. It’s a polished, upscale midsize sedan with a broad range of available technology, and it still offers more engagement than many staid competitors. You also get a comfortable luxury sedan with a strong reputation for safety, plus standard blind spot monitoring, lane departure warnings with lane keep assist, rear cross-traffic alerts, traffic sign recognition, and automatic high beams. 32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 BMW 5 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2023 5 Series is described as having a generally strong reliability record, and its standard safety equipment adds to its appeal for everyday use. It also carries over without major changes for the year, which can be reassuring if you prefer a more established version of the model. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a premium sedan like this can be costly if prior maintenance was skipped.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 BMW 5 Series?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should start with a history report to confirm accident status, title history, and service records. Then prioritize a thorough inspection of the suspension, steering feel, electronics, and any optional driver-assistance features, since this model can be complex. Focus on overall condition and maintenance quality, especially if you’re comparing cars that sit near the lower end of the price range.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 BMW 5 Series?

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can be selective without expecting deep bargain-bin pricing.

• Deal availability: 32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,395 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.91% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 86.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $37,144, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 BMW 5 Series's resale value?

The current average of $37,144 sits slightly below last year's $40,333.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. For future resale, the model’s premium badge, safety reputation, and broad appeal should help support demand, but the current price trend also shows that values can move meaningfully over time. If you plan to sell later, keeping mileage, condition, and maintenance records in strong shape will matter.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 BMW 5 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.91% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $43,147, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $37,144 average.
• It shifts toward a comfort-first character with a quieter cabin and a smoother ride.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2023 is the stronger starting point because it combines a lower average price with solid inventory and strong owner satisfaction. If you’re willing to pay more for the newer redesign and a more comfort-focused experience, the 2024 is the alternative to consider. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2023 is the smarter buy.
