How much does the 2023 BMW 5 Series cost?

Prices have softened 7.82% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,412 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of used 5 Series options to compare.

Is the 2023 BMW 5 Series a good car?

Yes — the 2023 BMW 5 Series earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. It is a polished, upscale midsize sedan with a broad range of available technology, and it still feels more engaging than many staid competitors. For you, that means it fits best if you want a premium sedan with comfort, substance, and some performance heritage rather than a purely sporty feel. The market also shows 35.4% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 BMW 5 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2023 5 Series is described as having a strong reputation for safety, and it comes standard with blind spot monitoring, lane departure warnings with lane keep assist, rear cross-traffic alerts, traffic sign recognition, and automatic high beams. Some advanced systems remain optional, but the standard equipment set is substantial for a used luxury sedan. For a used buyer, the main long-term ownership risk is the complexity that can come with a premium car, so condition and maintenance history matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 BMW 5 Series?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should prioritize a history report first, then focus on a pre-purchase inspection that checks for signs of prior damage, deferred maintenance, or expensive electronic issues. Pay close attention to overall condition, because this model year can command a wide price range depending on trim, mileage, and equipment. If you are comparing multiple listings, look closely at how well the car has been cared for rather than just the asking price.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 BMW 5 Series?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,412 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.82% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 85.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $37,093, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 BMW 5 Series's resale value?

The current average of $37,094 sits slightly below last year's $40,240.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also limit short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key is to buy well and keep the car in strong condition so you preserve as much value as possible. A well-kept example should still appeal to shoppers who want a premium sedan with comfort, technology, and brand cachet.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 BMW 5 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.82% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $42,889, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $37,094 average.
• The redesign leans more heavily into comfort, technology, and a quieter cabin.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2023 if you want the better value and a broad used-market selection. If you are willing to pay more for the redesigned 2024’s comfort-first character, that newer model is the better fit; otherwise, the 2023 is the smarter buy for price-sensitive shoppers.
