How much does the 2023 Acura MDX cost?

Prices have softened 8.06% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,921 listings available, which suggests you should have a workable selection to compare.

Is the 2023 Acura MDX a good car?

Yes — it earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 7/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.

The 2023 MDX fits well if you want a midsize three-row crossover SUV with a stylish design and a more polished feel. It also brings Acura’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive, which supports its appeal as a family-oriented SUV with a more engaging character.

The trade-offs are clear: the expert review calls out poor fuel economy and a cramped third row, and the driving experience is less cohesive in the Type S than you might expect from a performance-oriented version. Even so, the value proposition is helped by the complimentary AcuraLink subscription and scheduled maintenance coverage.

40.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which is a healthy sign for shoppers comparing offers.

Is the 2023 Acura MDX reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2023 MDX is presented as a relatively fresh redesign, and Acura’s updates for the year add complimentary AcuraLink connected services plus scheduled maintenance for two years or 24,000 miles. That combination helps reduce early ownership friction and supports the MDX’s reputation as a practical luxury SUV.

The expert review also points to a solid, well-developed platform and a generally appealing driving character, though the Type S version is less convincing as a performance model. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the MDX’s tech and fuel economy may be more frustrating over time than its core hardware.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Acura MDX?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper history review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the infotainment controls, driver-assistance behavior, and overall cabin condition. Pay extra attention to third-row usability and whether the vehicle’s equipment matches the trim you think you’re buying.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The standard MDX comes in a base level of specification with available Technology, A-Spec, and Advance packages, while the MDX Type S is offered in standard spec or with an Advance package. The base setup is the most stripped-down version, so compare equipment carefully if you want more comfort or convenience features.
• Powertrain: The standard MDX uses a 3.5-liter V6, while the Type S uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 with 355 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. The Type S adds stronger output, but the review notes that the extra performance does not come together as cleanly as it should.
• Safety package: Acura Watch includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control with low-speed following capability, and Traffic Jam Assist. Every 2023 MDX also includes blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, while certain trim packages add front and rear parking sensors, low-speed automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system.
• Infotainment: The cabin uses a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation panel and a 12.3-inch infotainment display, plus wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also includes AcuraLink connected services, Amazon Alexa Built-In, and a native navigation system, though the screen is not touch-sensitive.
• Fuel efficiency: The Type S averaged 16.9 mpg in testing and returned 17 mpg in city driving, while the official EPA combined rating is 19 mpg.

Which 2023 Acura MDX trim should I buy?

The 2023 Acura MDX is offered in 2 trim levels: MDX and MDX Type S.

Here's the short version:

• MDX: This is the better fit if you want the standard setup with Acura’s SH-AWD and a more predictable driving experience. It keeps the MDX’s core strengths intact without the Type S’s extra weight, firmer ride, and less convincing performance tuning.
• MDX Type S: This is the more powerful and more aggressively equipped version, with a turbocharged V6, adaptive air suspension, larger brakes, and exclusive performance hardware. It suits you if you want the most feature-rich and quickest MDX, but the expert review says the standard MDX with the A-Spec package is the better-driving choice.

The safety package is broad across the lineup, but some trim packages add parking sensors, low-speed automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Acura MDX?

This looks like a buyer-friendly market for the 2023 MDX, especially if you compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.

• Deal availability: 40.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,921 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.06% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 85.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $38,648, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Acura MDX's resale value?

The current average of $38,648 sits slightly below last year's $42,038.

That price movement suggests the MDX has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right entry point. A softer market today can also make it easier for you to find a cleaner example without paying peak pricing.

If demand stays steady, the MDX’s strong safety reputation and broad appeal as a family-oriented luxury SUV should help support resale interest. The key for you is to avoid overpaying now, because resale value is strongest when your purchase price starts from a lower base.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Acura MDX safe?

The 2023 Acura MDX earns Top Safety Pick+ recognition from IIHS and five-star ratings from NHTSA overall, though it also earned four-star protection ratings for the driver and front passenger in the frontal-impact test.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Acura Watch includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control with low-speed following capability, and Traffic Jam Assist. Every 2023 MDX also includes blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, while certain trim packages add front and rear parking sensors, low-speed automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system.

There is a notable caveat: the system can issue false lane-departure alerts, and the review describes a concerning incident where it mistook an overhead sign for an obstacle and briefly braked. That means you should treat the driver-assistance tech as helpful, but not flawless.

Should I buy a 2023 Acura MDX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 40.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.06% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds complimentary AcuraLink connected services and scheduled maintenance for two years or 24,000 miles.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $34,117, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $38,648 average.
• It brings a fresh redesign with a new platform and a more assertive attitude.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $41,561, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $38,648 average.
• It adds a new Type-S trim level and a more well-rounded everyday driving character.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, fresh design, and strong safety credentials, the 2023 is the smart default. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2022 is the value play; if you want a newer model with a broader everyday polish, the 2024 is worth a look.
