How much does the 2023 Acura MDX cost?

Prices have softened 8.58% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,667 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing prices and trims.

Is the 2023 Acura MDX a good car?

Yes — it earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.2/10 expert rating. The model scores 7/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.

The 2023 Acura MDX stands out as a midsize three-row crossover SUV with a stylish design and Acura’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive. It also carries strong safety credentials, which adds to its appeal if you want a family-oriented SUV with a more polished feel. Acura says it was last redesigned just one year ago, so it remains relatively fresh.

The trade-offs are clear: the expert review calls out poor fuel economy and a cramped third row, and it also notes poor ergonomic design. That means you may like it most if you value style, safety, and a premium feel more than maximum space or efficiency.

36.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Acura MDX reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2023 Acura MDX is presented as a relatively fresh redesign, and Acura adds complimentary connected services plus scheduled maintenance for the first two years or 24,000 miles. The expert review also describes the SUV as appealing and well-equipped, which supports the idea that it should be a solid long-term ownership choice if you keep up with routine care.

The performance notes point to a mechanically capable SUV with SH-AWD and a strong feature set, but the same review also highlights some drivability and fuel-economy drawbacks in the Type S. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about basic durability and more about living with the vehicle’s efficiency and usability compromises.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Acura MDX?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully, since accident-free listings are not the same as guaranteed problem-free examples. Prioritize a thorough inspection of the cabin controls, infotainment operation, and any driver-assistance features, because the MDX’s tech and ergonomics are part of its ownership experience. It also makes sense to focus on overall condition and maintenance records, especially if you’re comparing higher-mileage examples.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The standard MDX comes in a base level of specification with available Technology, A-Spec, and Advance packages, while the MDX Type S is offered in standard spec or with an Advance package. The base setup is the least equipped, while higher packages add more luxury and convenience equipment.
• Powertrain: The standard model uses a 3.5-liter V6, while the Type S uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 with 355 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. The expert review says the Type S adds power, but its fuel economy is hard to accept.
• Safety package: Acura Watch includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control with low-speed following capability, and Traffic Jam Assist. Every 2023 MDX also includes blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, while certain trim packages add front and rear parking sensors, low-speed automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system.
• Infotainment: The cabin uses a configurable 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and a 12.3-inch infotainment display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, along with AcuraLink connected services and Amazon Alexa Built-In.
• Fuel efficiency: The Type S averaged 16.9 mpg in evaluation driving and returned 17 mpg in city driving, while the official combined rating is 19 mpg.

Which 2023 Acura MDX trim should I buy?

The 2023 Acura MDX is offered in 6 trim levels: standard MDX, Technology, A-Spec, Advance, Type S, and Type S Advance.

Here's the short version:

• standard MDX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core MDX experience with SH-AWD and the model’s stylish, family-friendly layout. It makes sense if you want the basics without paying for extra luxury features.
• Technology: This trim is the first step up if you want more equipment and a better-balanced ownership experience than the base model. It should suit you if you want a stronger value mix without jumping to the pricier luxury-focused trims.
• A-Spec: The expert review specifically recommends the standard MDX with the A-Spec package if you want a sporty-looking version that is still more predictable to drive. This is the best-value choice for shoppers who want style without the Type S’s compromises.
• Advance: This trim adds more upscale equipment and convenience features, making it a better fit if you want a more premium-feeling MDX for daily use. It is the right pick if comfort and luxury matter more than sporty appearance.
• Type S: This is the performance-oriented version with the turbocharged V6, adaptive air suspension, and exclusive brake and chassis hardware. Buy it only if you specifically want the extra performance hardware and can live with the trade-offs.
• Type S Advance: This is the most luxurious and most expensive version, combining the Type S hardware with additional upscale touches. It suits you best if you want the top-spec MDX and are willing to pay for it.

Certain trim packages add front and rear parking sensors, low-speed automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system, so those features are worth prioritizing if they matter to you.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Acura MDX?

The market looks moderate, so you can shop selectively without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 36.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,667 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.58% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 85.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $37,720, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Acura MDX's resale value?

The current average of $37,720 sits slightly below last year's $41,258.

That price movement suggests the MDX has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. If you shop carefully now, you may have less downside than someone who paid closer to the prior-year average. The model’s broad appeal and premium positioning should still help support demand over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Acura MDX safe?

The 2023 Acura MDX earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the IIHS and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Acura Watch is the driver-assistance suite, and it includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control with low-speed following capability, and Traffic Jam Assist. Every 2023 MDX also includes blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, while certain trim packages add front and rear parking sensors, low-speed automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system.

The safety system is strong overall, but the review notes a few caveats: the lane-departure alerts can feel intrusive, false lane-departure notifications can happen on patched pavement, and the vehicle once mistook an overhead sign for an obstacle and braked unexpectedly. Those are worth keeping in mind if you want the most polished driver-assistance behavior.

Should I buy a 2023 Acura MDX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 36.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.58% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Acura adds complimentary connected services and scheduled maintenance for early ownership.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $33,239, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $37,720 average.
• It brings a new platform and a more assertive redesign.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $40,708, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $37,720 average.
• It adds a broader well-rounded appeal with a new Type-S trim level.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, freshness, and market availability, the 2023 is the primary path to consider. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the 2022 is the better value play, while the 2024 makes sense if you want to spend more for the newer model-year update.
