How much does the 2023 Acura MDX cost?

Prices have softened 8.27% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,813 listings available, which suggests you have a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Acura MDX a good car?

Yes — it earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.2/10 expert rating. The model scores 7/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.

The 2023 MDX fits well if you want a midsize three-row crossover SUV with a stylish design and a more polished feel. Acura’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive adds to its appeal, and the model’s fresh redesign helps it feel current. The trade-offs are clear: poor fuel economy, poor ergonomic design, and a cramped third row.

Cons: Poor fuel economy and a cramped third-row seat are the biggest compromises, especially if you need efficiency or adult-friendly space in back.

The market still shows 33.9% good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Acura MDX reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2023 MDX is presented as a relatively fresh redesign, and Acura adds complimentary connected services plus scheduled maintenance for the first two years or 24,000 miles. That combination helps reduce early ownership friction and supports the case for a used example that has been maintained properly.

The main long-term ownership risk for used buyers is making sure the vehicle’s condition matches its age and mileage, especially if you plan to keep it for several years.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Acura MDX?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re comparing multiple listings. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior damage, and whether the vehicle’s equipment and maintenance history line up with the asking price.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The standard MDX comes in a base level of specification with available Technology, A-Spec, and Advance packages, while the MDX Type S is offered in standard spec or with an Advance package. The Type S adds a more aggressive appearance and more performance hardware, but the content also notes that the standard MDX with the A-Spec package is the better choice if you want a sporty-looking version that is more predictable to drive.
• Powertrain: The standard MDX uses a 3.5-liter V6, while the Type S uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 with 355 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. The Type S also uses a 10-speed automatic transmission and SH-AWD, but the expert review says its performance upgrades do not come together as cleanly as they should.
• Safety package: Acura Watch includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control with low-speed following capability, and Traffic Jam Assist. Every 2023 MDX also includes blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, while certain trim packages add front and rear parking sensors, low-speed automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system.
• Infotainment: The cabin uses a configurable 12.3-inch digital instrumentation panel and a 12.3-inch infotainment display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, along with Amazon Alexa Built-In and AcuraLink connected services.
• Fuel efficiency: The Type S averaged 16.9 mpg in evaluation driving and returned 17 mpg in city driving, with an official combined rating of 19 mpg.

Which 2023 Acura MDX trim should I buy?

The 2023 Acura MDX is offered in 6 trim levels: base, Technology, A-Spec, Advance, Type S, and Type S Advance.

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the starting point if you want the MDX’s core style, SH-AWD appeal, and three-row layout without moving up the price ladder. It gives you the essentials, but the content makes clear that higher packages add meaningful equipment.
• Technology: This is the first step up if you want more convenience and a better-equipped daily driver without jumping to the sportier or pricier versions.
• A-Spec: This is the best-value trim if you want the sporty look the experts recommend without the Type S’s compromises. The review specifically points buyers toward the standard MDX with the A-Spec package if they want a more predictable drive.
• Advance: Choose this if you want more luxury and convenience equipment, including the head-up display mentioned in the tech content.
• Type S: This is the performance-focused choice, with the turbocharged V6, SH-AWD, adaptive air suspension, and other chassis upgrades. The trade-off is that the expert review says the added performance does not feel cohesive and comes with poor fuel economy.
• Type S Advance: Pick this only if you want the most heavily equipped Type S, including the added luxury touches described in the cabin and tech content.

Certain trim packages add front and rear parking sensors, low-speed automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Acura MDX?

The market looks moderate and selective, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient.

• Deal availability: 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,813 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.27% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 86.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $38,172, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Acura MDX's resale value?

The current average of $38,172 sits slightly below last year's $41,615.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, that also means resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment rather than broad market momentum alone.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Acura MDX safe?

The 2023 Acura MDX earns Top Safety Pick+ recognition from IIHS and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA. It earns four-star ratings for the driver and front passenger in the frontal-impact test.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Acura Watch is the named driver-assistance suite, and it includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control with low-speed following capability, and Traffic Jam Assist. Every 2023 MDX also includes blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, while certain trim packages add front and rear parking sensors, low-speed automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system.

The expert review also notes a few caveats, including false lane-departure notifications in some road conditions and an instance where the vehicle mistook an overhead sign for an obstacle and briefly braked.

Should I buy a 2023 Acura MDX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.27% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds complimentary AcuraLink connected services and scheduled maintenance for two years or 24,000 miles.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $33,524, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $38,172 average.
• It feels fresh, redesigned, and more polished than before.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $41,201, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $38,172 average.
• It adds a new Type-S trim level and broadens performance options.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, freshness, and available inventory, the 2023 is the primary path to consider. If your budget is tighter, the 2022 offers a lower entry price, while the 2024 makes sense if you want the newer model-year update and are willing to pay more.
