Used 2022 Volvo XC60 for Sale nearRichmond, VA

How much does the 2022 Volvo XC60 cost?

Prices have softened 16.05% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,296 listings available, which suggests you should have a workable set of options to compare.

Is the 2022 Volvo XC60 a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Volvo XC60 earns a 4.83/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its smooth driving experience, comfort, and high-quality features, and many also like its sporty options and advanced technology. In practical terms, that lines up well with the XC60’s role as a stylish, tech-forward luxury crossover that aims to feel polished rather than flashy.

The trade-offs are that it is described as poor value for money and as having not much cargo space. Even so, it remains a strong fit if you want a comfortable luxury SUV with a distinctive design and a clear safety focus.

Only 39.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market is selective rather than flooded with bargains.

Is the 2022 Volvo XC60 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.83/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback points to a vehicle that feels smooth, comfortable, and high-quality, with drivers also appreciating its advanced technology and sporty options. That kind of feedback suggests you can count on the XC60 to deliver a refined ownership experience over time.

The expert evaluation also emphasizes solid engineering and a calm, relaxed driving character, which supports the impression of a well-built luxury SUV. Volvo’s four-year, 50,000-mile basic and powertrain warranties also help reduce early ownership risk.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is paying luxury-SUV money for a vehicle that may not feel especially practical if you need lots of cargo room.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Volvo XC60?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on condition, electronics, and how the drivetrain feels in normal driving. Pay close attention to whether the equipment level matches the trim you think you are buying.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup spans B5 Momentum, B5 R-Design, B5 Inscription, B6, T8 Recharge Inscription, T8 Recharge R-Design, and T8 Recharge Polestar Engineered. The base Momentum is the entry point, while the Inscription adds Nappa leather upholstery and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and the sportier R-Design and Polestar Engineered versions bring a more performance-focused personality.
• Powertrain: The B5 mild hybrid pairs a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with a 48-volt system and is rated at 258 hp and 247 lb-ft, while the B6 adds an electric supercharger and is rated at 295 hp and 310 lb-ft. The B5 can be front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and the B6 is all-wheel drive only.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, automatic post-collision braking, a driver-attention monitor, traffic-sign recognition, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, Ready to Drive Notification, and Emergency Stop Assist. Pilot Assist is available as part of an option package.
• Infotainment: You get a 9-inch touchscreen with Android Automotive, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, Bluetooth, a built-in WiFi hotspot, Google Assistant, Google Maps, Google Play Store access, and over-the-air software updates. Wireless smartphone integration is not called out here, so make sure the setup matches your needs before you buy.
• Fuel efficiency: The B5 is rated at 26 mpg combined with FWD or 24 mpg combined with AWD, and the B6 is rated at 24 mpg combined. The Recharge plug-in hybrid is rated at 57 MPGe combined and 19 miles of electric range, plus 25 mpg combined in hybrid mode.

Which 2022 Volvo XC60 trim should I buy?

The 2022 Volvo XC60 is offered in 7 trim levels: B5 Momentum, B5 R-Design, B5 Inscription, B6, T8 Recharge Inscription, T8 Recharge R-Design, and T8 Recharge Polestar Engineered.

Here's the short version:

• B5 Momentum: This is the entry point, and it makes the most sense if you want the XC60’s core style, safety, and tech without paying for extra luxury or performance upgrades. It is the trim to start with if value matters most.
• B5 R-Design: Choose this if you want a sportier look and feel without jumping to the pricier electrified models. It suits buyers who care more about appearance and driving character than maximum equipment.
• B5 Inscription: This is the best-value choice if you want the most upscale cabin feel in the standard mild-hybrid lineup, thanks to the added Nappa leather upholstery and leather-wrapped steering wheel.
• B6: Pick this if you want more power and standard AWD, since it brings the stronger mild-hybrid setup and skips the base Momentum trim. It is the right fit if you want a more confident all-around drive.
• T8 Recharge Inscription: This is the plug-in hybrid route for buyers who want efficiency and luxury together, with the more premium cabin treatment of the Inscription trim.
• T8 Recharge R-Design: Choose this if you want the plug-in hybrid powertrain with a sportier presentation.
• T8 Recharge Polestar Engineered: This is the performance-focused choice, with the most aggressive setup in the lineup.

Pilot Assist is available as part of an option package rather than standard equipment.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Volvo XC60?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you should shop carefully and be ready to move when you find the right listing.

• Deal availability: 39.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,296 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.05% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 88.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,027, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Volvo XC60's resale value?

The current average of $27,027 sits slightly below last year's $32,194.

That decline suggests the XC60 has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can be helpful if you are buying now and planning to sell later. If prices stabilize from here, your future resale position may be better than it would have been when the model was priced higher a year ago.

The current range also shows that the market is still giving you room to shop, rather than forcing you into peak pricing. For a future seller, that means condition, mileage, and equipment level will matter a lot when it comes time to list the vehicle.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.83/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Volvo XC60 safe?

The 2022 Volvo XC60 earns the IIHS’s highest Top Safety Pick+ rating, and the similar 2021 model received a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in frontal and side crash tests and four-star ratings in rollover crash tests.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, automatic post-collision braking, a driver-attention monitor, traffic-sign recognition, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, Ready to Drive Notification, and Emergency Stop Assist. Pilot Assist is available as part of an option package, and it combines adaptive cruise control with automated lane centering.

The main caveat is that the 2022 model itself does not have published crash-test ratings yet, so the strongest published results come from the similar prior model year.

Should I buy a 2022 Volvo XC60 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 39.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.05% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.83/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds new mild-hybrid powertrains, updated styling, and the Android-based infotainment system.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $23,716, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $27,027 average.
• It offers a well-rounded luxury feel with strong safety and everyday usability.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $33,134, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $27,027 average.
• It leans harder into plug-in hybrid efficiency and electric-only driving.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of updated tech, safety, and current-market pricing, the 2022 is the primary pick. If your budget is tighter, the 2021 is the better value path; if you want plug-in hybrid capability and can spend more, the 2023 is the upgrade to consider.
