Should I buy a 2022 Volvo XC40 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 40.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 87.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.47% compared with last year.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $22,195, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $22,931 average.
• It adds an all-electric version to the lineup.

Consider the 2023 if:

• It adds mild-hybrid powertrains and updated infotainment.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the best all-around choice if you want a well-equipped, premium-feeling XC40 at a more favorable price point. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the 2021 can save you money, while the 2023 makes sense if you want the newer updates and are willing to pay more.
