Used 2022 Volkswagen Taos for Sale nearNaples, FL

How much does the 2022 Volkswagen Taos cost?

Prices have softened 10.56% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,744 listings available, which suggests you have a decent amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Volkswagen Taos a good car?

Generally — the 2022 Volkswagen Taos earns a 4.38/5 user rating and a 7.00/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise the roomy interior, excellent gas mileage, and peppy around-town performance. The overview also points to strong everyday usefulness, with plenty of cargo space and affordable advanced safety features.

The trade-offs are the irritating transmission and unintuitive technology, and the expert notes also call out delayed throttle response and harsh shifting in some driving situations. For you, that means the Taos makes the most sense if space, efficiency, and value matter more than polish.

Good and great deals account for 39.9% of listings, so there is still meaningful room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Volkswagen Taos reliable?

Owners rate it 4.38/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to a dependable-feeling package, with praise for the roomy interior, excellent gas mileage, and quality that some compare favorably with more expensive vehicles. That kind of feedback suggests you can count on it as a practical daily driver.

The expert notes also describe the Taos as a strong everyday choice thanks to its roomy cabin, rewarding ride and handling, and useful ownership benefits. Volkswagen includes complimentary scheduled maintenance for two years or 20,000 miles, which helps reduce early ownership costs.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that drivetrain and tech frustrations may matter more as mileage adds up, so a careful test drive is important.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Volkswagen Taos?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully, because accident-free listings are not the same as problem-free listings. Prioritize a thorough inspection of the transmission behavior, infotainment operation, and any safety features that may differ by trim. It also makes sense to focus on overall condition, since the Taos’s value proposition depends heavily on how well it has been maintained.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The S trim is the entry point, while SE and SEL add more equipment and a more upscale cabin. The base S can leave you wanting more because some driver-assistance features are only available through the IQ Drive package, while SEL brings the most complete equipment set.
• Powertrain: Every Taos uses a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 158 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel-drive models use an eight-speed automatic, while 4Motion all-wheel-drive versions use a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission that can feel harsher and less predictable.
• Safety package: IQ Drive includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, Travel Assist, and Emergency Assist. On SE, some of those features are standard, while SEL includes the full suite as standard equipment.
• Infotainment: S gets a 6.5-inch touchscreen, while SE and SEL use an 8-inch display with MIB3 software. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto start with SE, and SEL adds navigation plus an eight-speaker BeatsAudio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The Taos is described as fuel-efficient, and the 4Motion test vehicle returned 28 mpg in combined driving, with 27.1 mpg observed during testing.

Which 2022 Volkswagen Taos trim should I buy?

The 2022 Volkswagen Taos is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SE, SEL.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the least expensive way into the Taos, and it makes sense if you want the core space, efficiency, and utility without paying for extras. Just know that some of the most useful driver-assistance features require the IQ Drive package, so this trim is best if you are comfortable adding options selectively.
• SE: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the 8-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM with 360L, voice control, and wireless charging. It also gets some safety features standard that are optional on S, making it the sweet spot for everyday use.
• SEL: This is the most upscale version, adding navigation, BeatsAudio, and a more premium cabin with two-tone perforated leather and contrast stitching. It also includes the full IQ Drive suite as standard, plus rain-sensing wipers, road sign recognition, low-speed Travel Assist, traffic-jam assistance, and rear parking sensors with automatic braking.

The SEL is the trim with the most complete safety package, while SE is the best-value choice for most used buyers.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Volkswagen Taos?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 39.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,744 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.56% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 88.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $18,274, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Volkswagen Taos's resale value?

The current average of $18,274 sits slightly below last year's $20,432.

That price decline suggests the Taos has already absorbed some of its near-term depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stabilizes. If you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may be better positioned than someone who paid closer to the prior-year average.

The model’s practical strengths also matter for resale. Roomy interiors, strong fuel economy, and useful safety equipment tend to keep used-shoppers interested, especially in a value-focused crossover.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.38/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Volkswagen Taos safe?

The 2022 Taos earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Volkswagen’s IQ Drive safety technologies are standard or available across the trim range, and the suite includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, Travel Assist, and Emergency Assist. Travel Assist combines adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability and lane-centering assistance, while Emergency Assist can slow the vehicle and bring it to a stop if the driver becomes unresponsive.

There is a trim-level gap on the S, where IQ Drive is a $995 option package rather than standard equipment. The SEL gets the full set as standard, along with rain-sensing wipers, road sign recognition, low-speed Travel Assist, traffic-jam assistance, and rear parking sensors with automatic braking.

Should I buy a 2022 Volkswagen Taos or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 39.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.56% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.38/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 introduces Volkswagen’s new affordable crossover with roomy packaging and useful safety tech.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $20,810, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $18,274 average.
• It adds more standard safety features and equipment.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2022 is the stronger buy because pricing has eased and inventory is healthy. If you are willing to pay more for added standard equipment, the 2023 is the cleaner upgrade path.
