Should I buy a 2022 Volkswagen ID.4 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.41% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $18,782, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $20,866 average.
• It offers a mainstream-focused first-year EV with quiet comfort and broad availability.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $22,529, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $20,866 average.
• It adds a more affordable base model and updated tech features.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the best all-around choice if you want a strong mix of price, inventory, and owner satisfaction. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2021 is the better value play; if you want newer updates and can spend more, the 2023 is worth a look.
