CarGurus Analysis: 2022 Toyota Camry
overall

Summary
With 4,718 currently listed for sale and an average price of $23,708.00, 31.5% of 2022 Toyota Camrys for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 Toyota Camry 4.88 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.17 / 10.
71.8% of 2022 Camry models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2022 Toyota Camry stands out as a straightforward choice for buyers who want a roomy, reliable, efficient, safe, and affordable car. It also has broad appeal because Toyota sold more than 310,000 Camrys in 2021, making it the third best-selling vehicle of that year that was not a pickup truck. For shoppers who like its styling, the Camry’s design is part of the package: if you like the way the 2022 Toyota Camry looks, you’ll likely like most other things about it.
What makes the 2022 Toyota Camry especially appealing is the mix of strengths it brings to the table. It offers an available V6 engine, standard advanced safety features, and excellent value for money. Owners also praise its reliability, fuel efficiency, stylish design, comfortable interior, and value. At the same time, it is not without drawbacks: the technology is described as outdated, the TRD trim does not feature a folding rear seat, and some drivers feel the four-cylinder engine lacks power.

I absolutely love the features of my car. The push start, sunroof, heated seats, heated steering wheel, and Apple CarPlay are all fantastic. For the value, the car is a great choice. Being a Toyota, its built to last and is also very fuel-efficient. Both the exterior and interior are incredibly clean, which adds to its appeal. That said, there are a couple of things I wish were different. I’d love if the car had memory seats, and the display screen could be a bit more modern, especially compared to the ones in the Toyota Highlanders. Another small inconvenience is that, unlike the Highlanders where Apple CarPlay connects wirelessly through Bluetooth, my car requires the phone to be plugged in for CarPlay to work. While this isnt a huge issue, it would be more convenient if it were wireless like in the Highlanders. Overall, it’s a really cute car and an amazing choice for a first car. Im really happy with it!

Smooth ride on the highway with great mpg. The shifting is a little hotter than I'm used to but you get used to it pretty quickly. The only thing it's missing is a physical pause/play button. Has all the controls except that one.

Great car. Like the styling on the outside which was a big reason. Most important though is reliability and safety.

Prices have softened 2.18% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 4,743 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing prices and trims. If you find a listing below $22,404.10, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2022 Toyota Camry a good car?
Yes — the 2022 Toyota Camry earns a 4.88/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.
Owners consistently praise its reliability, fuel efficiency, and comfortable interior, and they also like the value for money and stylish design. The main trade-offs are the four-cylinder engine’s lack of power and the technology’s dated feel. For you, that means the Camry makes the most sense if you want a practical midsize sedan that leans toward comfort, efficiency, and everyday usability rather than cutting-edge tech or sporty punch. With 32.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s still room to shop selectively.
Is the 2022 Toyota Camry reliable?
Owners rate it 4.88/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback repeatedly points to reliability, dependability, and trouble-free ownership, with many drivers saying it’s a car they can count on over the long term. The expert evaluation also describes it as a comfortable, affordable, reliable, safe, and efficient family car. Toyota’s complimentary scheduled maintenance for the first two years of ownership adds a useful ownership perk. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about core durability and more about finding a well-kept example with the right maintenance history.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Toyota Camry?
At 71.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection matters here, especially if you’re comparing multiple listings with similar prices. Focus on overall condition, maintenance records, and whether the car’s equipment matches what you expect from the trim you’re considering.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base setup includes standard heated side mirrors and dual-zone automatic climate control on most trims, while the TRD stands apart with its performance-focused styling and equipment. The TRD also skips dual-zone automatic climate control.
- Powertrain: You can choose a four-cylinder engine, a V6 engine, or a gas-electric hybrid powertrain. The V6 delivers strong performance, while the hybrid can return more than 50 mpg in combined driving.
- Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ is standard and includes adaptive cruise control and lane-centering assistance. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard on the TRD but optional on LE and SE.
- Infotainment: The standard screen is 7 inches, and it includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, and SiriusXM satellite radio. A 9-inch touchscreen is available, but wireless smartphone integration and over-the-air capability are not described here.
- Fuel efficiency: The TRD is rated at 25 mpg combined, and the test vehicle averaged 24.8 mpg. The hybrid powertrain can deliver more than 50 mpg in combined driving.
Which 2022 Toyota Camry trim should I buy?
The 2022 Toyota Camry is offered in 1 trim level: TRD.
Here's the short version:
The TRD is the clear choice if you want the Camry’s strongest performance character, with a V6, sport-tuned hardware, and distinctive styling. It also brings standard blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. The trade-off is that it’s the least practical fit for buyers who want the Camry’s most mainstream comfort-and-value formula, especially since the interior can feel a little cheap and the technology is dated.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Toyota Camry?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.
- Deal availability: 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 4,743 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.18% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 71.7% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $22,404.10, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Toyota Camry's resale value?
The current average of $23,708 sits slightly below last year's $24,237.
That price movement suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. If you’re planning to sell later, the current softness means your resale outcome will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim appeal. Well-kept examples should still hold buyer interest because this model year has strong satisfaction scores and broad mainstream demand.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.88/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2022 Toyota Camry safe?
It earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS and five-star ratings in every single evaluation the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration performs.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ is standard, and it includes adaptive cruise control and lane-centering assistance. Toyota also includes Safety Connect, which adds automatic collision notification, an emergency assistance button, roadside assistance access, and a stolen vehicle locator. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard on the TRD, but it’s optional on LE and SE. One caveat is that the lane-keeping and adaptive cruise systems can feel overly intrusive at times.
Should I buy a 2022 Toyota Camry or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 71.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.18% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.88/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It pairs a strong safety package with a V6-powered TRD focus.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $22,008, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $23,708 average.
- It offers broader powertrain and trim variety.
The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of safety, satisfaction, and current-market availability, the 2022 is the better target. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 is the more budget-friendly path and may be worth a closer look.
