Used 2022 Subaru BRZ for Sale near California

How much does the 2022 Subaru BRZ cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 132 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2022 Subaru BRZ a good car?

Generally — the 2022 Subaru BRZ earns a 4.3/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Cost effectiveness.

Owners consistently praise its sporty performance, fun driving experience, and engaging handling, and they also like the stylish design and comfortable ride. The BRZ’s value-for-money appeal comes through clearly in the feedback, even if some drivers wish for a more powerful engine, better audio, and improved seating comfort.

That lines up with the car’s purpose: it’s a lightweight, rear-wheel-drive coupe built to prioritize driving enjoyment over practicality. The main trade-off is that it gives up everyday usefulness for that sharper sports-car character, and the cramped back seat reinforces that focus.

Good and great deals account for 34.8% of listings, so you still have a decent chance of finding a competitively priced example.

Is the 2022 Subaru BRZ reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that feels sporty, enjoyable, and comfortable enough to live with, while also being seen as a fantastic value for a sports car. That combination suggests you’re looking at a model that many drivers feel good about keeping over time.

The expert drive notes also emphasize that the BRZ’s new engine and chassis tuning improve the car’s overall polish, and the updated setup is described as quieter and more forgiving than before. Subaru’s five-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty and three-year/36,000-mile basic warranty add some ownership reassurance.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about complexity and more about whether the car was driven hard or maintained carefully, so condition and service history matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Subaru BRZ?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 79.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a sports coupe like this can be more likely to have seen enthusiastic use. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on signs of hard driving, tire wear, brake condition, and any evidence of body or suspension damage.

Pay extra attention to how the car feels on the road, since the BRZ is meant to be engaging and precise. You want one that still feels tight, clean, and well cared for rather than one that has been worn down by aggressive use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Premium trim gets 17-inch wheels with Michelin Primacy tires, while the Limited rides on 18-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires for more grip. The interior is all-business, with digital displays and a large trio of climate-control knobs, while Limited models add Ultrasuede with red accent stitching and dual-mode heaters.
• Powertrain: The BRZ uses a Subaru boxer-four engine with Toyota’s D-4S fuel-injection system, and you can get either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic with paddle shifters. The 2.4-liter engine makes 228 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, and it still revs to 7,000 rpm.
• Safety package: Subaru’s EyeSight driver-assist tech is standard only on automatic-transmission models and includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-sway warning, lead vehicle start alert, and automatic high beams. The Limited adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, and steering responsive headlights, while automatic Limited models also get reverse automatic braking.
• Infotainment: You get a standard 8-inch touchscreen and digital gauge cluster, plus Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth connectivity, and SiriusXM satellite radio. The system is easy to use and the digital cluster adds sport and track modes.
• Fuel efficiency: The BRZ returns 25 mpg combined, 21 mpg city, and 30 mpg highway with the automatic transmission, or 22 mpg combined, 20 mpg city, and 27 mpg highway with the manual.

Which 2022 Subaru BRZ trim should I buy?

The 2022 Subaru BRZ is offered in 2 trim levels: Premium and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• Premium: This is the value play if you want the BRZ’s core formula at the lowest entry point. You still get the standard 8-inch touchscreen, digital gauge cluster, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth connectivity, SiriusXM satellite radio, leather upholstery, and the same 2.4-liter boxer-four engine with either transmission.
• Limited: This is the better pick if you want the most complete BRZ experience. It adds 18-inch wheels with grippier Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires, Ultrasuede upholstery with red accent stitching, dual-mode heaters, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, steering responsive headlights, and reverse automatic braking on automatic models.

The safety package is strongest on the Limited, especially if you want the extra driver-assistance features and the automatic-transmission-only EyeSight suite.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Subaru BRZ?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without expecting a fire-sale environment.

• Deal availability: 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 132 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 79.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $25,084, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Subaru BRZ's resale value?

The current average of $26,197 sits slightly above last year's $26,091.

That small increase suggests the BRZ has held its value fairly well, which is a good sign if you plan to sell later. Stable pricing also points to a market that still sees demand for this kind of lightweight sports coupe.

Because the year-over-year change is modest, you’re not looking at a vehicle that has suddenly surged or dropped in value. That makes future resale easier to forecast, especially if you buy at the lower end of the range and keep the car in clean condition.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Subaru BRZ safe?

The 2022 Subaru BRZ hasn’t received published crash-test ratings from IIHS or NHTSA yet.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Subaru’s EyeSight driver-assist tech is standard only on automatic-transmission models and includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-sway warning, lead vehicle start alert, and automatic high beams. The Limited adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, and steering responsive headlights, while automatic Limited models also get reverse automatic braking.

The main safety caveat is that the most advanced driver-assistance features are not universal across the lineup, so you’ll want to confirm exactly which transmission and trim you’re looking at before you buy.

Should I buy a 2022 Subaru BRZ or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 79.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 model brings a restyled exterior, a more powerful 2.4-liter engine, and more tech features than its predecessor.

The bottom line: The 2022 BRZ makes the most sense if you want the redesigned version with stronger performance and updated tech, especially if you value the car’s fun-to-drive character over practicality. If you’re shopping mainly on price, a later or earlier example may still work, but the 2022 is the year that clearly defines this generation’s appeal.
