How much does the 2022 RAM 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 8.59% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 16,749 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and prices.

Is the 2022 RAM 1500 a good car?

Yes — it earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise the truck’s exceptional comfort, luxurious ride, beautiful interior, thoughtful features, strong power, and good value for money. It also gets credit for performing well both on the road and off, which fits buyers who want a truck that feels polished in daily driving but still works as a capable utility vehicle.

The main trade-offs are that advanced safety features are not standard and the diesel engine option is expensive. The truck’s appeal is strongest if you want a full-size pickup with a more upscale, comfortable personality than a bare-bones work truck.

Only 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market is selective rather than broadly discounted.

Is the 2022 RAM 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a truck that feels dependable, trouble-free, and easy to count on over time, with especially strong praise for comfort, power, and overall value. The expert evaluation also emphasizes that the Ram 1500 remains an excellent all-arounder, which supports the case for long-term ownership confidence.

The truck’s strong ride quality and polished driving character add to its everyday dependability, while the available maintenance perk of free scheduled maintenance on some competing powertrains highlights how ownership costs can matter in this segment. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the truck was maintained well, especially if it has higher-mileage diesel or heavily optioned equipment.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 RAM 1500?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free listings are common but not guaranteed. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on braking behavior, electronic features, and overall cabin condition, since this truck’s appeal depends heavily on how well its comfort and technology systems have held up. It also makes sense to compare trims closely, because equipment changes meaningfully across the lineup.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The truck is available in Quad Cab and Crew Cab body styles, and the lineup spans seven trim levels from Tradesman to TRX. Lower trims miss some of the richer cabin and tech content found higher up, while Big Horn and above gain the newer Uconnect 5 system.
• Powertrain: A 3.6-liter V6 with eTorque is standard, a 5.7-liter V8 is available with or without eTorque, and the turbocharged 3.0-liter diesel V6 delivers 260 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque. The diesel is efficient, but it is also the priciest engine choice.
• Safety package: Lower trims include lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring with trailer coverage, and rear cross-traffic alert. Higher trims can add the Advanced Safety Group or Rebel Safety Group, which bring automatic high beams, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, a head-up display, surround-view camera, rain-sensing wipers, and parking assistance.
• Infotainment: Lower trims use an 8.4-inch touchscreen, while higher trims can get a 12-inch display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, along with Alexa Built-in, satellite radio, connected services, and available WiFi access.
• Fuel efficiency: The diesel test truck returned 24 mpg in combined driving, and the official estimate for that truck was 24 mpg combined.

Which 2022 RAM 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2022 RAM 1500 is offered in 7 trim levels: Tradesman, Big Horn, Rebel, Laramie, Limited Longhorn, Limited, TRX.

Here's the short version:

• Tradesman: This is the most basic path into the lineup, so it makes sense if you want the Ram’s core capability and don’t need the richer cabin or tech upgrades found higher up. It is the trim where you should expect the most feature gaps.
• Big Horn: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it unlocks the newer Uconnect 5 infotainment system and a more modern tech experience without jumping all the way to luxury pricing.
• Rebel: Choose this if you want a more rugged personality and the safety-package availability that adds more advanced driver assistance features.
• Laramie: This is the right middle ground if you want a more upscale feel and stronger comfort features without moving into the highest-priced luxury trims.
• Limited Longhorn: Pick this if you want a premium, more distinctive cabin presentation and a truck that leans heavily into comfort and style.
• Limited: This is the trim for buyers who want the most luxurious everyday experience, with the richest interior presentation and the strongest sense of refinement.
• TRX: This is the performance-focused choice, built for buyers who want the most extreme power and attitude in the lineup.

The safety-package trims are especially important here: lower trims get the basics, while the Advanced Safety Group and Rebel Safety Group bring the most complete driver-assistance content.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 RAM 1500?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to compare options but not so much discounting that every listing is a bargain.

• Deal availability: 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 16,749 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.59% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 81.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $32,352, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 RAM 1500's resale value?

The current average of $32,352 sits slightly below last year's $35,394.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled enough to give buyers more leverage today, but it also means future sellers may need to be realistic about pricing if they want to move quickly. A truck that holds strong owner satisfaction and broad appeal can still command healthy demand, especially when it combines comfort, capability, and a premium-feeling cabin.

For you as a seller, the key is that well-kept examples should remain attractive to shoppers who want a refined full-size truck rather than a stripped workhorse. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 RAM 1500 safe?

The 2022 RAM 1500 earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS when equipped with all of its driver aids, and it earns five-star ratings overall from NHTSA, with four-star frontal-impact ratings for the driver and front passenger.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Lower trims include lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring with trailer coverage, and rear cross-traffic alert.

A key caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard, and the rear automatic braking system can be overly sensitive in some situations. The lane-keep assist system can also feel too insistent, so you should pay attention to how the truck behaves during a test drive.

Should I buy a 2022 RAM 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.59% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• This year stands out for its polished design, comfort, technology, and driving character.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $29,732, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $32,352 average.
• It adds the TRX performance edge and a more aggressive off-road focus.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $35,519, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $32,352 average.
• It leans more upscale with premium materials and a more carlike feel.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, comfort, and broad appeal, the 2022 is the smart default. If you are price-sensitive, the 2021 can save you money, while the 2023 makes sense if you want to spend more for a newer-feeling upscale truck.
