How much does the 2022 RAM 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 8.53% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 9,722 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for used shoppers.

Is the 2022 RAM 1500 a good car?

Yes — it earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its exceptional comfort, luxurious ride, great power, and strong value for money. The interior also gets repeated credit for feeling beautiful and thoughtfully equipped, and many owners say it performs well both on the road and off. The 2022 Ram 1500’s appeal is strongest if you want a full-size pickup that feels polished and comfortable without giving up everyday usefulness. The market also shows 35.7% good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

The owner feedback points to a truck that feels dependable, trouble-free, and easy to live with over the long haul. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure you avoid examples with neglected maintenance or unresolved safety-equipment issues.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 RAM 1500?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any truck you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean. Prioritize a careful inspection of the cabin, suspension, brakes, and any added equipment, since this model can be optioned very differently from one truck to the next. Focus on condition and feature content so you know whether the truck matches the price you’re paying.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The truck is available in Quad Cab and Crew Cab styles, with a standard 6-foot, 4-inch cargo box and an available 5-foot, 7-inch box on Crew Cab models. Starting with Big Horn trim, it adds the next-generation Uconnect 5 infotainment system and an 8.4-inch or 12-inch touchscreen, while lower trims use the smaller screen and miss some of those upgrades.
• Powertrain: A 3.6-liter V6 is standard with eTorque, and a 5.7-liter V8 is available with or without eTorque. The turbocharged 3.0-liter diesel V6 is also offered and delivers 260 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque, but it is expensive.
• Safety package: Lower trims include lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring with trailer coverage, and rear cross-traffic alert. Higher trims can add the Advanced Safety Group or Rebel Safety Group, which bring automatic high beams, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, a head-up display, surround-view camera, rain-sensing wipers, and parking assistance.
• Infotainment: Lower trims get an 8.4-inch touchscreen, while higher trims can use a 12-inch display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, along with Alexa Built-in, satellite radio, connected services, and WiFi access.
• Fuel efficiency: The diesel setup is rated at 24 mpg in combined driving, and the test truck averaged 24.8 mpg on a testing loop.

Which 2022 RAM 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2022 RAM 1500 is offered in 7 trim levels: Tradesman, Big Horn, Rebel, Laramie, Limited Longhorn, Limited, TRX.

Here's the short version:

• Tradesman: This is the starting point, so it makes sense if you want the lowest entry price and plan to keep the truck focused on work-first basics.
• Big Horn: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it brings the newer Uconnect 5 system and the larger touchscreen options while staying below the luxury-oriented trims.
• Rebel: Choose this if you want a more rugged personality and a trim that sits higher in the lineup with more capability-focused appeal.
• Laramie: This is the step-up choice if you want a more premium feel without jumping all the way to the top-end luxury trims.
• Limited Longhorn: This suits you if you want upscale materials and a more distinctive premium-truck presentation.
• Limited: This is the right pick if you want the most polished cabin and the richest feature content short of the TRX’s performance focus.
• TRX: This is the performance flagship, so it fits you if outright power and high-performance character matter most.

Advanced safety features are not standard, so check carefully for the package content you want on any trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 RAM 1500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,722 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.53% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 82.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $32,487, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 RAM 1500's resale value?

The current average of $32,487 sits slightly below last year's $35,518.

That price movement suggests the truck has softened enough to create a better buying window now, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy well today, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later. Trucks with strong demand and broad appeal tend to hold attention better, and this one still has that going for it.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 RAM 1500 safe?

The 2022 RAM 1500 earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS when equipped with all of its driver aids, and it earns five-star ratings from NHTSA, though it also has dual four-star frontal-impact ratings for the driver and front passenger.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Lower trims include lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring with trailer coverage, and rear cross-traffic alert. The rear automatic braking system can be overly sensitive, and the lane-keep assist can feel too insistent in some situations.

Should I buy a 2022 RAM 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.53% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 adds a standard Clean Air System and brings Uconnect 5 to Big Horn and above.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $29,844, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $32,487 average.
• It leans harder into capability and personality, with a strong focus on off-road performance.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $35,719, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $32,487 average.
• It emphasizes comfort and refinement with premium interior materials.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the better all-around pick if you want a well-rounded truck with strong comfort, good market availability, and a softer used price. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2021 is the cheaper route, while the 2023 makes sense if you want to spend more for a newer-feeling cabin and a more upscale presentation.
