How much does the 2022 RAM 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 7.74% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 9,668 listings available, which suggests you should have a healthy set of options to compare.

Is the 2022 RAM 1500 a good car?

Yes — the 2022 RAM 1500 earns a 4.78/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its comfort, luxurious ride, great power, and value for money. They also highlight the beautiful interior and thoughtful features, and many say it performs well both on the road and off.

The trade-offs are the expensive diesel engine option and the fact that advanced safety features are not standard.

If you want a full-size pickup that feels polished and comfortable without giving up everyday usefulness, this model year fits that brief well. Good and great deals account for 35.6% of listings, so there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 RAM 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.78/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a truck that feels dependable, with strong comfort, solid value, and a reputation for being pleasant to live with over time. The expert notes also reinforce that it is a well-rounded pickup with strong driving character and broad appeal.

The powertrain commentary emphasizes that the truck delivers strong torque and useful capability, which supports confidence in everyday ownership. The cost-effectiveness notes also frame it as competitively priced and equipped relative to other full-size pickups.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that higher-end options and diesel-equipped trucks can be expensive to own if you need repairs or replacement parts.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 RAM 1500?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any truck you are considering, even if the listing looks clean. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has towing equipment, advanced driver aids, or higher-mileage use. Focus on overall condition, because trim and option content can change the ownership experience a lot.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The truck ranges from the basic Tradesman to the high-performance TRX, and lower trims miss some of the richer equipment and tech found higher up the lineup.
• Powertrain: You can get a standard 3.6-liter V6 with eTorque, an available 5.7-liter V8 with or without eTorque, or the EcoDiesel turbocharged 3.0-liter diesel V6; the diesel brings strong torque and efficiency, but it is expensive.
• Safety package: Lower trims include lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring with trailer coverage, and rear cross-traffic alert. Higher trims can add the Advanced Safety Group or Rebel Safety Group, which bring automatic high beams, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, a head-up display, surround-view camera, rain-sensing wipers, and parking assistance.
• Infotainment: Big Horn and above get Uconnect 5, with an 8.4-inch or 12-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Alexa Built-in, satellite radio, connected services, and WiFi access.
• Fuel efficiency: The EcoDiesel is rated at 24 mpg in combined driving, and the test truck averaged 24.8 mpg on the evaluation loop.

Which 2022 RAM 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2022 RAM 1500 is offered in 7 trim levels: Tradesman, Big Horn, Rebel, Laramie, Limited Longhorn, Limited, TRX.

Here's the short version:

• Tradesman: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost path into the lineup and plan to keep the truck focused on work-first basics.
• Big Horn: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it brings the newer Uconnect 5 system and a stronger mix of everyday convenience and tech.
• Rebel: Choose this if you want a more rugged personality and a trim that sits higher in the lineup with more capability-oriented appeal.
• Laramie: This is the move if you want a more upscale feel without jumping all the way to the luxury end of the range.
• Limited Longhorn: Pick this if you want a more premium, richly appointed truck with a stronger emphasis on comfort and style.
• Limited: This is the luxury-leaning choice, especially if you want the most polished cabin and the strongest mix of comfort and equipment.
• TRX: This is the performance-focused halo model, aimed at buyers who want the most extreme version of the truck.

Higher trims are available with the Advanced Safety Group and Rebel Safety Group packages, while lower trims have a more limited driver-assistance set.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 RAM 1500?

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,668 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.74% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 82.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $33,049, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 RAM 1500's resale value?

The current average of $33,049 sits slightly below last year's $35,822.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled enough to help you buy more selectively today. For a future seller, that also means resale value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment mix rather than just model-year desirability.

Well-kept trucks with desirable trims and strong option content should hold up better than stripped or heavily used examples. If you buy carefully now, you improve your odds of getting a stronger return later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.78/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 RAM 1500 safe?

The RAM 1500 earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS when equipped with all of its driver aids, and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star frontal-impact ratings for the driver and front passenger.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Lower trims include lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring with trailer coverage, and rear cross-traffic alert.

A key caveat is that the rear automatic braking system can be overly sensitive, and the lane-keep assist can feel too insistent in some situations.

Should I buy a 2022 RAM 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.74% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.78/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines comfort, utility, technology, and driving character in a well-rounded package.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $30,270, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $33,049 average.
• It leans into capability and personality, with a strong focus on high-performance off-road appeal.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $36,376, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $33,049 average.
• It emphasizes comfort and refinement with premium interior materials.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, comfort, and overall polish, the 2022 is the smart default. If your budget is tighter, the 2021 is the value play; if you want a newer-feeling, more comfort-focused truck and can spend more, the 2023 is worth a look.
