About 2022 Porsche 718 Cayman
Introduced at the Beijing Auto Show in April of 2016, the Porsche 718 Cayman is now in its sixth year of production. The two-seat sports car is known internally as a 982 chassis, and it shares most of its construction, styling and mechanicals with the Porsche 718 Boxster. This is as close as you’ll find to an “entry-level” Porsche in 2022. The Porsche 718 Cayman is available in six distinct trim levels. The 718 Cayman and 718 Cayman T both feature a 2.0-liter turbocharged flat four-cylinder with 300 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. The 718 Cayman S uses a 2.5-liter turbocharged flat four-cylinder with 350 hp and 309 lb-ft of torque. The 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 ups the ante with a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat six-cylinder with 394 hp and up to 317 lb-ft of torque (depending on the transmission). New for 2022, the 718 Cayman GT4 features the same 4.0-liter six, but boosted to 414 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque. Also new for 2022 is the 718 Cayman GT4 RS, with a 4.0-liter six churning out 493 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque. All 2022 718 Cayman trims are rear-wheel drive (RWD). Each trim level except for the GT4 RS can be ordered with either a six-speed manual gearbox or, for an extra cost of $3,210, a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic transmission. The GT4 RS is only available with the PDK. Porsche offers seven different wheel styles for the 2022 718 Cayman, as well as dozens of individual options. The popular Sport Chrono package adds $2,090. No-cost color options for the 2022 Porsched 718 Cayman include White, Black, Guards Red, and Racing Yellow. Six metallic colors are available, each for $650, and seven additional “special colors” cost $2,580 each. Note that the metallic colors are not available on the GT4 trims. Standard features on all trim levels increased significantly in 2022 to include dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, and rain-sensing, auto-dimming mirrors. Bi-xenon headlights with the Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) are standard, as is Apple CarPlay, although Android Auto remains unavailable. The 2022 Porsche 718 Cayman starts at $59,900 MSRP. The 718 Cayman T starts at $69,600 MSRP, the 718 Cayman S at $72,500, and the 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 at $87,400. The new 2022 718 Cayman GT4 stats at $101,200, and the new 718 Cayman GT4 RS starts at $141,700.
