CarGurus Analysis: 2022 Nissan Titan
overall

Summary
With 39 currently listed for sale near Worcester, MA and an average price of $26,728, 41.0% of 2022 Nissan Titans for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 Nissan Titan 4.5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.33 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2022 Nissan Titan may not be the best-selling full-size pickup truck, but it stands out as an often overlooked option that deserves more attention. It is available in King Cab and Crew Cab configurations, and it comes with a standard 5.6-liter V8 gasoline engine plus rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. With a starting price of $38,810, it also presents itself as an appealing value in the full-size truck segment.
What helps the 2022 Nissan Titan distinguish itself is its stylish design and quiet cabin, both of which add to its everyday appeal. The truck’s value proposition is another clear strength, especially for buyers who want a full-size pickup without chasing the most expensive nameplates. Its drawbacks are straightforward as well: a manual transmission is not available, and fuel economy is poor.

Great truck. I love its look and all the features it came with. I have a 2005 Titan and am sold on the brand. That was the main motivation for buying a new one. This was a no-brainer for me. Great towing capacity, impressive ground clearance, luxurious spacious comfortable interior, and great power with its 400hp 5.7 liter engine. I highly recommend anyone looking for a truck to check out the Titan.

How much does the 2022 Nissan Titan cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $29,715 |
| Year-Round Low | $28,739 |
| Year-Round High | $31,433 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $31,438 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −5.48% |
Prices have softened 5.48% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 862 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
Is the 2022 Nissan Titan a good car?
Yes — 4.5/5 from users and 8.33/10 from experts point to a truck that makes a strong case for itself. The 2022 Nissan Titan is positioned as an overlooked full-size pickup with a standard 5.6-liter V8 gasoline engine, rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, and a starting price that supports its value pitch in the segment. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Safety.
The trade-offs are clear: you do not get a manual transmission, and fuel economy is a weak spot. Even so, the Titan’s stylish design, quiet cabin, and everyday usability make it a sensible fit if you want a full-size truck that feels more polished than purely work-focused.
Good and great deals account for 33.9% of listings, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.
Is the 2022 Nissan Titan reliable?
Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The Titan’s standard V8, conventional body-on-frame layout, and straightforward powertrain setup all support the impression of a truck built for durable everyday use. Its expert evaluation also points to a pleasant driving experience and a strong value proposition, both of which matter when you plan to keep a used truck for years.
The performance notes describe the engine as a good one with variable valve timing and direct gasoline injection, and the truck’s standard safety equipment adds to its everyday dependability. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that poor fuel economy can make it more expensive to live with over time.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Nissan Titan?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 79.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage truck or one that has been used for towing. Focus on overall condition, cabin wear, and signs of hard use, since a full-size pickup can hide a lot of work behind a clean appearance.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Titan’s cabin is described as clean and roomy, with excellent material selection and build quality, while the moonroof package adds a dual-panel panoramic moonroof and a power sliding rear window. Base-trim equipment gaps matter because some upgrades, like the premium audio system and navigation, are reserved for higher trims.
- Powertrain: Every model uses a 5.6-liter gasoline V8 with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The engine makes 400 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque, and the truck is tuned for strong everyday thrust rather than efficiency.
- Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard and includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, high-beam assist, and rear automatic braking. Standard intelligent forward collision warning and eight airbags add to the package, while halogen reflector headlights on S and SV trims received a poor rating.
- Infotainment: An 8-inch center display is standard, with a 9-inch touchscreen available. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, along with a WiFi hot spot, NissanConnect, Bluetooth, and two USB ports. Navigation is available on SV and standard on Pro-4X and Platinum Reserve.
- Fuel efficiency: Rear-wheel-drive models are estimated at 16 mpg city/21 mpg highway/18 mpg combined, while four-wheel-drive models rate at 15 mpg city/21 mpg highway/18 mpg combined. The Pro-4X returns 15 mpg city/20 mpg highway/17 mpg combined.
Which 2022 Nissan Titan trim should I buy?
The 2022 Nissan Titan is offered in 5 trim levels: S, SV, Pro-4X, Platinum Reserve, and Pro-4X.
Here's the short version:
- S: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Titan’s core strengths at the lowest price. It is the trim to consider if you want the standard V8, standard safety tech, and the Titan’s value story without paying for extras.
- SV: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more flexibility, including available King Cab and Crew Cab configurations and available navigation. It makes the Titan easier to tailor to your needs without jumping to the pricier off-road or luxury trims.
- Pro-4X: This is the off-road-focused choice, with standard four-wheel drive, an electronically locking rear differential, all-terrain tires, and Bilstein off-road shocks. It also gets the upgraded audio system and standard navigation.
- Platinum Reserve: This is the most upscale version, with the premium audio system standard and navigation included. Choose it if you want the Titan’s strongest comfort-and-convenience setup.
Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard across the lineup, but the halogen reflector headlights on S and SV trims were rated poorly, while Pro-4X and Platinum Reserve get full LED headlights.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Nissan Titan?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.
- Deal availability: 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 862 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.48% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 79.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $28,739, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Nissan Titan's resale value?
The current average of $29,715 sits slightly below last year's $31,438.
That decline suggests the Titan is currently in a softer pricing environment, which can help you buy at a better entry point today. For a future seller, that also means resale value may depend more on condition, mileage, and trim appeal than on broad market momentum. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment should hold up better than trucks that show heavy use or neglect.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2022 Nissan Titan safe?
The Titan received top “Good” ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) in all but the “small overlap front: passenger-side” crash test, where it received an “Acceptable” rating. It also earned “Superior” ratings for front crash prevention tech, both vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard, and it includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, high-beam assist, and rear automatic braking. Standard intelligent forward collision warning and eight airbags further strengthen the safety package.
One caveat is that the standard halogen reflector headlights on S and SV trims received a poor rating, while the LED headlights on Pro-4X and Platinum Reserve were not rated.
Should I buy a 2022 Nissan Titan or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 79.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.48% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- Expert testing highlights its stylish design, quiet cabin, and strong value proposition.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $30,043, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $29,715 average.
- It brings a strong mix of standard power, technology, and safety features.
The bottom line: If you want the better current-market value, the 2022 is the cleaner pick because pricing has eased and the truck still brings strong standard equipment. If you are shopping strictly on price, the 2021 only makes sense if you find a particularly well-kept example or a listing that undercuts the 2022 enough to justify the older model year.
