overall

Summary
With 584 currently listed for sale and an average price of $19,489, 24.5% of 2022 Nissan Rogue listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 Nissan Rogue 5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.83 / 10.

Why it stands out
After a complete makeover for the 2021 model year, the 2022 Nissan Rogue stands out for the changes under its hood. It uses a new 1.5-liter turbocharged inline three-cylinder gasoline engine with variable compression and a new continuously variable transmission, replacing the former 2.5-liter naturally aspirated inline four-cylinder engine and CVT the Rogue had used for years. That update gives the 2022 Rogue a more modern mechanical setup and is presented as part of the reason it is more appealing.
The 2022 Nissan Rogue is a two-row compact crossover SUV with frameless, unibody construction, riding on a platform that was all-new for 2021. It comes with front-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive and is offered in four trim levels. Pricing starts at $26,700 for front-wheel-drive models and rises to $36,480 before options, while adding all-wheel drive costs $1,500 on any trim level. The Rogue’s 33 mpg combined rating also makes it the current leader in its non-hybrid compact crossover SUV class, though buyers should note that the article’s source frames this as a class-leading efficiency story rather than a dramatic performance leap.

Absolutely love my 2022 Rogue SL AWD. The exterior looks really sharp, and the interior is outstanding as far as looks and functionality go. The seats are incredibly comfortable, and I’m most appreciative of the adjustable lumbar support. The turbo engine has plenty of pep, and gas mileage is excellent (I’ve been averaging mid-30s, all city). My last car was a Jeep Compass, and the Rogue is far superior in comfort, ride, acceleration, and maneuverability. I researched 2022 SUVs and the Rogue was ranked high in most reviews, and I haven’t been disappointed.

Yes — the 2022 Nissan Rogue earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.
It’s a two-row compact crossover SUV with a modern mechanical setup, available front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and a class-leading efficiency story at 33 mpg combined. With 34.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2022 Nissan Rogue reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The 2022 Rogue’s new 1.5-liter VC-Turbo engine and updated CVT are presented as a meaningful mechanical upgrade, and the variable-compression design is described as transparent to the driver. The model also benefits from a smooth, controlled ride and good steering feel, which supports everyday dependability.
If you’re buying used, the main long-term risk is making sure the vehicle has been maintained properly and checked carefully for condition, since that matters more than the model’s strong overall setup.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Nissan Rogue?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the report carefully, because a clean listing percentage doesn’t replace a proper history review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on overall condition, signs of prior damage, and whether the equipment on the specific trim matches what you expect. Pay close attention to the cabin electronics, driver-assistance features, and tire and brake wear so you know exactly what you’re buying.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base S starts with the essentials, while the SV, SL, and Platinum add more comfort and convenience equipment. The SL and Platinum bring LED foglamps, and upper trims add the larger digital instrument display and more upscale cabin touches.
- Powertrain: You get a 1.5-liter VC-Turbo inline three-cylinder engine with 201 horsepower and 225 lb-ft of torque, paired with a new CVT. The setup is tuned for stronger response and better efficiency than the previous engine.
- Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard and includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, high beam assist, and rear automatic braking. ProPilot Assist is available, and ProPilot Assist with Navi-Link adds predictive speed control tied to navigation.
- Infotainment: The Rogue has a 9-inch center touchscreen, standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and wireless Apple CarPlay on upper trims. Upper trims also add a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and a 10.8-inch head-up display.
- Fuel efficiency: The Rogue is rated at 30 mpg city, 37 mpg highway, and 33 mpg combined on regular unleaded fuel.
Which 2022 Nissan Rogue trim should I buy?
The 2022 Nissan Rogue is offered in 4 trim levels: S, SV, SL, and Platinum.
Here's the short version:
- S: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Rogue’s core value proposition without stretching the budget. It’s the trim to consider if you want the lowest starting price and standard safety coverage.
- SV: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it moves you up the lineup without jumping straight to the most expensive versions. It’s the smart middle ground if you want more equipment but still care about price.
- SL: This is the sweet spot if you want the strongest mix of features and value. The available Premium Package adds BOSE premium audio, the 9-inch infotainment display with navigation, and ProPilot Assist with Navi-Link without forcing you into the top trim.
- Platinum: This is the most upscale Rogue, with the richest feature set and the most premium cabin presentation. Choose it if you want the most advanced screens and the highest-end feel.
Safety Shield 360 is standard across all trim levels, and ProPilot Assist is available on higher trims.

- Inventory: There are 9,796 listings available.

What is the 2022 Nissan Rogue's resale value?
The current average of $19,207 sits slightly below last year's $22,771.
That drop suggests the Rogue has become more affordable for used buyers, which can help demand in the near term. For a future seller, the current pricing trend means you may need to be realistic about expectations if you plan to resell soon. The good news is that strong shopper interest in the model and its broad appeal can help support demand over time.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2022 Nissan Rogue safe?
The 2022 Nissan Rogue received a four-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA), and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave the 2021 Nissan Rogue a Top Safety Pick+ rating.

Should I buy a 2022 Nissan Rogue or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 15.65% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It adds the new VC-Turbo engine and updated transmission for stronger performance and better efficiency.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $18,247, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $19,207 average.
- It offers a polished redesign with a premium-feeling interior and great ride quality.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $21,774, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $19,207 average.
- It adds trim-specific updates like Midnight Edition and Amazon Alexa compatibility.
The bottom line: Choose the 2022 if you want the newer engine, strong efficiency, and a well-equipped safety package at a lower used price than the 2023. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the 2021 is the cheaper path, while the 2023 makes sense if you want the latest trim updates.
