How much does the 2022 Nissan Maxima cost?

Is the 2022 Nissan Maxima a good car?

The 2022 Nissan Maxima is a strong fit if you want a large sedan with a premium feel, a 300-horsepower V6, and a long list of standard equipment. It also offers a more engaging driving character than many mainstream sedans, with quick acceleration and capable cornering.

For your daily use, the Maxima makes the most sense if you value standard safety and convenience features, a distinctive personality, and a sedan that feels a bit more special than the average commuter car. The tradeoff is that it is not especially spacious, and the CVT keeps it from feeling as lively as its styling suggests.

With 30.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitively priced example.

Is the 2022 Nissan Maxima reliable?

The 2022 Nissan Maxima is presented as a well-equipped sedan with a strong V6, broad standard safety content, and a straightforward ownership appeal. Its appeal is less about complexity and more about delivering a familiar formula with plenty of standard features.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that you are shopping a model with a CVT and a performance-oriented image, so condition and maintenance history matter more than the badge alone.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Nissan Maxima?

At 72.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection on any car that looks unusually cheap or unusually clean on paper. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the car’s equipment and wear match the mileage and asking price.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Nissan Maxima?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 553 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.01% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 72.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,578, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Nissan Maxima's resale value?

The current average of $22,698 sits slightly below last year's $24,673.

That price movement suggests the Maxima has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help you as a buyer today. If you plan to sell later, the same trend means resale value may continue to be shaped more by condition, mileage, and equipment than by broad market momentum.

Should I buy a 2022 Nissan Maxima or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 72.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.01% compared with last year.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $18,796, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $22,698 average.
• It offers a more relaxed, comfort-focused character with premium interior materials.

The 2022 is the better primary choice if you want the newer model-year pricing context and a broad pool of listings to compare. If your priority is saving money first, the 2021 is the better secondary path because it undercuts the current-year average by a meaningful margin.
