Used 2022 Nissan Altima for Sale nearLexington, KY

How much does the 2022 Nissan Altima cost?

Prices have softened 11.53% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 4,312 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Nissan Altima a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Nissan Altima earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its performance, fuel economy, and spacious interior, and they also like the updated technology plus features such as remote start and heated seats. The Altima’s broad appeal comes through in its flexible setup, with two engines, front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and five trim levels. The trade-offs are a base engine that feels underwhelming and the lack of a hybrid option, while all-wheel drive is not available with the VC-Turbo engine. For you, that means the Altima makes the most sense if you want a comfortable, tech-forward midsize sedan with strong safety credentials rather than a class leader in outright excitement. Good and great deals account for 31.2% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Nissan Altima reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners describe the Altima as dependable, with praise centered on its fuel economy, spacious cabin, and the kind of comfort that makes it easy to live with over time. The expert review also points to a well-put-together car with a smooth, composed ride and a quiet cabin, which supports the impression that it’s built to be trouble-free in daily use. Nissan’s dealer service also gets a favorable mention in the cost-effectiveness discussion, which can help ownership feel less stressful. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that some examples may have seen heavy use, so condition and maintenance history matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Nissan Altima?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free status doesn’t tell you everything about prior use or maintenance. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on the engine, transmission behavior, tires, brakes, and any signs of uneven wear. It’s also smart to compare trim equipment closely, since lower trims can feel noticeably less upscale than higher ones.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The five trim levels are S, SV, SR, SL, and Platinum. Lower trims don’t look and feel as nice, while higher trims bring better materials, fit, and finish. The Midnight Edition package on the SR adds a gloss black sport grille, LED fog lights, black-painted 19-inch wheels, a moonroof, heated front seats, and a power-lumbar driver’s seat.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 188 horsepower or a 2.0-liter VC-Turbo with 248 hp. The base engine is available with FWD or AWD on most trims, while the VC-Turbo is limited to the SR with FWD. The CVT is standard, and the VC-Turbo is the stronger choice if you want more punch.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, automatic high beams, driver-attention warning, Rear View Monitor, rear door alert, and hill-start assist. Starting with the SV, Nissan Safety Shield 360 adds rear automatic braking, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, and a rear sonar system. The base S can get an optional Driver Assist package with blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear automatic braking, and rear sonar.
• Infotainment: The base S gets a 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, voice recognition, Siri Eyes Free, hands-free texting, and six speakers. Other trims get an 8-inch touchscreen, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM, and two USB ports. Starting with SL, you also get a Bose premium audio system, navigation, connected services, and remote engine start with intelligent climate control.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA says combined fuel economy ranges from 32 mpg for the 2.5-liter FWD setup to 29 mpg for the VC-Turbo FWD model. The expert review also notes that the non-turbo engine delivered 33.3 mpg in testing.

Which 2022 Nissan Altima trim should I buy?

The 2022 Nissan Altima is offered in 5 trim levels: S, SV, SR, SL, and Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, but it still gives you core safety tech and the basic infotainment setup. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting cost and don’t mind a simpler cabin.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds Safety Shield 360 and the more useful 8-inch infotainment system. If you want the strongest mix of equipment and price, this is the one to target.
• SR: This trim adds a sportier look and feel, plus the Midnight Edition package can make it especially appealing if you want more style. It also unlocks the VC-Turbo engine, so it suits you if you want the most personality and available performance.
• SL: This is the comfort-and-tech step up, with the Bose audio system, navigation, connected services, and remote start with intelligent climate control. Choose it if you want a more premium daily driver.
• Platinum: This is the top trim and comes standard with AWD. It’s the pick if you want the most fully equipped Altima and don’t mind paying more for it.

Safety Shield 360 starts on the SV trim, while the base S can add some of those features through an optional Driver Assist package.

• Deal availability: 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,312 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.53% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 76.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,277, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Nissan Altima's resale value?

The current average of $17,277 sits slightly below last year's $19,529.

That decline suggests the Altima has become more affordable for buyers, but it also means sellers may face more price pressure than they did a year ago. If you’re planning to sell later, the current trend points to a market that rewards clean condition, strong maintenance records, and desirable equipment. Higher-trim examples and well-kept cars should hold up better than rougher, higher-mileage ones. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, automatic high beams, driver-attention warning, Rear View Monitor, rear door alert, and hill-start assist. Starting with the SV trim, Nissan Safety Shield 360 adds rear automatic braking, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, and a rear sonar system. The base S can add an optional Driver Assist package with blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear automatic braking, and rear sonar. IIHS also notes an Acceptable headlight rating, even though the Altima scores highly overall.

Should I buy a 2022 Nissan Altima or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.53% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines two engines, AWD availability, and strong standard safety tech.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $16,177, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $17,277 average.
• It offers AWD and wireless smartphone integration.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $20,413, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $17,277 average.
• It emphasizes comfort, efficiency, and simple technology.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, safety, and equipment, the 2022 is the strongest all-around pick. If your budget is tighter, the 2021 is the better value path, while the 2023 makes sense only if you’re willing to pay more for a newer model-year step up.
