How much does the 2022 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class cost?

Prices have softened 4.00% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

Is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class a good car?

Generally — the 2022 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class earns a user rating of 4/5, which points to solid owner satisfaction. The overview describes it as a luxury-focused grand tourer that blends open-air style, modern technology, and everyday usability, with a cabin centered on MBUX and an electrically folding fabric roof. It also emphasizes that you get serious performance and a more adjustable driving character than a simple cruiser, while still accepting limited rear-seat space and modest cargo room.

That makes it a strong fit if you want a high-end convertible that prioritizes comfort, tech, and presence over practicality. 28.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview points to a polished, comfort-oriented luxury car with broad driving modes and a refined cabin, which supports the idea that it is built to deliver a composed ownership experience. At the same time, its limited practicality means your long-term satisfaction will depend on whether you value style and comfort more than everyday utility.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about basic appeal and more about living with the car’s compromises if you need space or simplicity.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and verify that the car’s condition matches its premium positioning. Prioritize a thorough inspection of the roof mechanism, cabin electronics, and any signs of wear in the interior and exterior finish. Because this model emphasizes luxury and technology, condition matters as much as mileage.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 28.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 278 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.00% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 93.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $95,272, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class's resale value?

The current average of $95,272 sits slightly below last year's $99,238.

That price movement suggests the market has softened, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also temper near-term resale upside. If you plan to sell later, the current pricing trend implies you should focus on buying well and keeping the car in strong condition. A well-kept example should still appeal to shoppers who want a luxury convertible with strong performance and a premium badge.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 28.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.00% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $94,032, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $95,272 average.
• It adds a more striking personality with a premium cabin and a stronger statement-making design.

The bottom line: If you want the better-documented value play, the 2022 is the safer primary choice because it combines a softer price trend with solid satisfaction and healthy inventory. If you are especially price-sensitive and want to spend a bit less, the 2023 is worth a look for its lower average price and more dramatic personality.
