Used 2022 Mazda MAZDA3 for Sale nearPittsburgh, PA

How much does the 2022 Mazda MAZDA3 cost?

Prices have softened 2.18% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 674 listings available, which gives you a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Mazda MAZDA3 a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Mazda MAZDA3 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise the comfortable and luxurious interior, impressive handling, and strong performance, especially with the turbo engine. The user feedback also points to the Bose stereo system as a highlight, which reinforces the car’s upscale feel.

On the downside, the expert notes call out poor fuel economy, a cramped back seat, and unintuitive technology. That means you get the most value if you care more about style and driving enjoyment than maximum everyday practicality.

For you, this is a strong fit if you want a compact car that feels more premium than many mainstream rivals. With 31.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s also enough market activity to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Mazda MAZDA3 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to a car that feels comfortable, luxurious, and strong over time, with many drivers also appreciating the technology and Bose audio system. That kind of feedback usually lines up with a vehicle that owners feel good about keeping.

The expert notes also describe the Mazda3 as delivering intrinsic value, with a refined, sophisticated character that supports confidence in daily use. Mazda Connected Services is complimentary for three years of ownership, and it includes remote engine start, a car finder function, and automatic emergency notification after a collision.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about living with the car’s compromises, especially its fuel economy and tech usability.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Mazda MAZDA3?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the brakes, electronics, and overall cabin condition, since the car’s appeal depends heavily on how well its premium feel has been preserved. If you plan to use the car every day, pay close attention to rear-seat comfort and how well the technology works for you.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 2.5 S lineup offers the broadest range of choices, including front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, while the 2.5 S Premium hatchback is the only version with a six-speed manual transmission. The base 2.0 sedan is the most affordable, but the 2.5 S family gives you the best mix of equipment and flexibility.
• Powertrain: You can choose a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 155 horsepower and 150 pound-feet of torque, a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 186 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque, or a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 227 horsepower and 310 pound-feet on 87-octane fuel, or 250 horsepower and 320 pound-feet on 93-octane fuel.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard on the 2.5 S Select trim and higher, while the top 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus adds Traffic Jam Assist, reverse automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system.
• Infotainment: Mazda Connect uses an 8.8-inch static infotainment display, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available to help offset the system’s more frustrating controls. Mazda Connected Services is complimentary for three years and includes remote engine start and a car finder function.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.0 sedan returns 31 mpg in combined driving. The 2.5 S range returns between 27 mpg and 30 mpg combined, depending on trim and powertrain. Turbo models return 26 mpg in the hatchback and 27 mpg in the sedan.

Which 2022 Mazda MAZDA3 trim should I buy?

The 2022 Mazda MAZDA3 is offered in 8 trim levels: Mazda3 2.0, Mazda3 2.5 S, Mazda3 2.5 S Select, Mazda3 2.5 S Premium, Mazda3 2.5 S Carbon Edition, Mazda3 2.5 Turbo, Mazda3 2.5 Turbo Premium, and Mazda3 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus.

Here's the short version:

• Mazda3 2.0: This is the entry point if you want the lowest price and the 31 mpg combined efficiency figure, but it is the least powerful choice and best suited to shoppers who care most about value.
• Mazda3 2.5 S: This is the best-value trim for most buyers because it adds the stronger 2.5-liter engine and keeps the car’s core appeal intact without pushing you into higher-priced territory.
• Mazda3 2.5 S Select: Choose this if you want the added confidence of blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, which makes the car easier to live with in daily driving.
• Mazda3 2.5 S Premium: This is the trim to target if you want the manual transmission in the hatchback, along with a more enthusiast-friendly setup.
• Mazda3 2.5 S Carbon Edition: This trim stands out for its Polymetal Gray paint, black 18-inch alloy wheels, black mirror caps, and 12-speaker Bose premium sound system, making it the style-and-audio pick.
• Mazda3 2.5 Turbo: Pick this if you want the strongest performance character, standard AWD, and the turbo engine’s extra punch without going all the way to the top.
• Mazda3 2.5 Turbo Premium: This is the more upscale turbo choice if you want the performance hardware with a richer feature set.
• Mazda3 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus: This is the top choice if you want the most complete package, including Traffic Jam Assist, reverse automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system.

For safety-minded shoppers, the 2.5 S Select and higher trims are the ones that add blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Mazda MAZDA3?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 674 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.18% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 78.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $19,865, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Mazda MAZDA3's resale value?

The current average of $21,050 sits slightly below last year's $21,519.

That softer pricing suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more carefully now but may also limit short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. If you’re thinking about future value, the current trend points to a model that is holding reasonably steady rather than appreciating.

For a seller, that usually means your best outcome comes from buying well and keeping the car in strong condition. Well-kept examples with desirable trims and clean history should remain easier to move than neglected ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Mazda MAZDA3 safe?

The 2022 Mazda MAZDA3 earns five-star ratings in every NHTSA assessment, including rollover resistance, and the IIHS names it a Top Safety Pick+.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard on the 2.5 S Select trim and higher, while the top 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus adds Traffic Jam Assist, reverse automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system.

The main caveat is that Traffic Jam Assist was not evaluated in heavy traffic, so its real-world usefulness may vary depending on how you drive. Even so, the overall safety package is a major strength and one of the car’s clearest selling points.

Should I buy a 2022 Mazda MAZDA3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.18% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds a Carbon Edition, standard wiper de-icer on Turbo models, and a new paint color.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $19,662, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $21,050 average.
• It emphasizes boosted power and a more refined, upscale character.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $22,451, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $21,050 average.
• It adds hatchback practicality with more cargo space and a rear liftgate.

The bottom line: the 2022 is the best all-around pick if you want the strongest mix of safety, owner satisfaction, and market availability. If your budget is tighter, the 2021 is the smarter value play; if you want more everyday versatility, the 2023 is worth a look.
