Used 2022 MINI Cooper for Sale nearDenver, CO

How much does the 2022 MINI Cooper cost?

Prices have softened 3.27% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

With 480 listings available, you have a modest pool of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2022 MINI Cooper a good car?

Yes — the 2022 MINI Cooper earns a 5/5 user rating and a 5.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 7/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

It stands out as a purpose-built small car with a strong emphasis on personalization, BMW-based engineering, BMW engines, and BMW technology. That makes it especially appealing if you want something more individualized than the typical small car.

The trade-offs are clear: the base engine is underwhelming, cargo space is limited, and it is poor value for money. Even so, it fits best if you care more about character, premium feel, and customization than maximum practicality.

41.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 MINI Cooper reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2022 MINI Cooper’s appeal is reinforced by its BMW-based engineering and BMW technology, which support its premium-small-car identity. It is also described as fuel-efficient, which helps everyday ownership feel more manageable.

Its dependability story is strongest when you focus on the car’s core mechanical simplicity and the fact that it is built around a well-established small-car formula. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a neglected example could be more frustrating to live with than a well-kept one.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 MINI Cooper?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been modified or heavily optioned. Pay close attention to overall condition, because this model’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been maintained and equipped.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The refreshed 2022 MINI Convertible is offered in Cooper, Cooper S, and John Cooper Works specification, with Classic, Signature, or Iconic trim. The base setup is the least powerful, while the higher-spec versions add more personality and performance.
• Powertrain: The Cooper uses a turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine, while the Cooper S gets a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder. Both engines can be paired with a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, and the JCW version uses a tuned version of the Cooper S engine with an eight-speed automatic.
• Safety package: Driving Assistant is standard and includes forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, and lane-departure warning. Adaptive cruise control is available with an automatic transmission, but blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is not available.
• Infotainment: The standard setup includes an 8.8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, and a newly standard digital instrument cluster. Android Auto is not available, and navigation, wireless smartphone charging, and a Harman Kardon premium sound system are available.
• Fuel efficiency: The Cooper S returned 26 mpg in combined driving in EPA estimates, and testing produced 27.1 mpg on a mixed loop.

Which 2022 MINI Cooper trim should I buy?

The 2022 MINI Cooper is offered in 3 trim levels: Cooper, Cooper S, and John Cooper Works.

Here's the short version:

• Cooper: This is the entry point, and it gives you the MINI personality with the least expensive powertrain. It makes the most sense if you want the styling and customization without paying for extra speed.
• Cooper S: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it adds the stronger turbocharged 2.0-liter engine and a much more satisfying performance balance.
• John Cooper Works: Choose this if you want the most powerful version and the most enthusiast-focused character, but it makes the most sense only if performance matters more than value.

Driving Assistant is standard, and adaptive cruise control is available only on automatic-transmission cars.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 MINI Cooper?

This looks like a buyer-friendly market if you are willing to compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 41.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 480 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.27% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 85.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,337, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 MINI Cooper's resale value?

The current average of $23,211 sits slightly below last year's $23,994.

That softer pricing can help you buy at a more favorable entry point, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays soft. For a seller, the current trend suggests you should expect value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment rather than on broad market appreciation.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 MINI Cooper safe?

It earns a 3/10 safety score from our experts.

Driving Assistant is standard and includes forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, and lane-departure warning. Adaptive cruise control is available with an automatic transmission, but blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is not available.

The lack of published crash-test ratings is an important caveat for used buyers, so you should lean heavily on the vehicle history report and the condition of the specific car you are considering.

Should I buy a 2022 MINI Cooper or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 41.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.27% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds refreshed styling, standard LED headlights, and a new 8.8-inch infotainment screen.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $20,376, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $23,211 average.
• It adds several new features and brings back a manual transmission option.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $25,673, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $23,211 average.
• It leans harder into personality with a limited-run Resolute Edition and a few new paint colors.

The bottom line: If you want the refreshed look and the strongest mix of inventory and pricing signals, the 2022 is the best place to start. If your priority is saving money, the 2021 is the better value play; if you want the newest special-edition flavor, the 2023 is worth a look.
