Used 2022 MINI Cooper for Sale near Connecticut

How much does the 2022 MINI Cooper cost?

Prices have softened 3.20% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 467 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2022 MINI Cooper a good car?

Yes — 5/5 from owners and 5.17/10 from expert testing point to a car that appeals strongly if you want personality and customization. The 2022 MINI Cooper is positioned as a premium small car with BMW-based engineering, BMW engines, and BMW technology, and it stands out for the breadth of choices across engines, trims, colors, materials, wheels, packages, and options.

The trade-offs are clear: the base engine is underwhelming, cargo space is limited, and value for money is not one of its strengths. That means you should look at it as a style-forward, enthusiast-leaning small car rather than a practical all-rounder.

The model scores 7/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

38.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2022 MINI Cooper reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The 2022 MINI Cooper’s appeal comes from its BMW-based hardware, premium positioning, and emphasis on personalization, all of which support a sense of quality and distinctiveness. It is also described as fuel-efficient, which can help reduce day-to-day ownership friction.

The expert evaluation also notes that the car’s value proposition improves once you accept its premium pricing and focus on the experience it delivers. MINI’s own engineering and technology foundation should give you confidence in the car’s underlying design.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a premium, highly optioned small car can become expensive to keep satisfying if you need practicality or low running costs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 MINI Cooper?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean title percentage does not replace a proper inspection. Pay close attention to condition, equipment operation, and whether the car has the features you want, since MINI’s appeal depends heavily on how it was spec’d. If you are comparing multiple examples, prioritize the one that best balances condition, equipment, and price.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup emphasizes personalization, and the base setup can feel sparse compared with better-equipped versions. Look closely at how much equipment the car has, because the appeal of this model depends heavily on the trim and options you choose.
• Powertrain: The base turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder makes 134 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque, while the Cooper S uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 189 hp and 206 lb-ft. The stronger engine is the better fit if you want more satisfying acceleration.
• Safety package: Driving Assistant is standard and includes forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, and lane-departure warning. Adaptive cruise control is available with an automatic transmission, but blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is not available.
• Infotainment: The standard setup includes an 8.8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, and a digital instrument cluster. Android Auto is not available, while navigation, wireless smartphone charging, and a Harman Kardon sound system are available.
• Fuel efficiency: The Cooper is described as fuel-efficient, and the Cooper S test car returned 26 mpg in combined driving according to EPA estimates, with a real-world test result of 27.1 mpg.

Which 2022 MINI Cooper trim should I buy?

The 2022 MINI Cooper is offered in 3 trim levels: Cooper, Cooper S, and John Cooper Works.

Here's the short version:

• Cooper: This is the entry point, but the base engine is the least compelling part of the lineup. It makes sense only if you want the MINI look and personality at the lowest starting point.
• Cooper S: This is the best-value trim because it adds the stronger turbocharged 2.0-liter engine and a much more satisfying driving experience without jumping all the way to the top performance model.
• John Cooper Works: Choose this if you want the most power and the most performance-focused version of the lineup, but it is the least budget-friendly path.

Driving Assistant is standard, and adaptive cruise control is available only with an automatic transmission.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 MINI Cooper?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 38.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 467 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.20% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 85.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,264, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 MINI Cooper's resale value?

The current average of $23,183 sits slightly below last year's $23,950.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more favorable for buyers, which can also mean future sellers may need to price competitively. If you buy well now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later. The model’s strong personality and premium positioning can help keep it desirable, but condition and equipment will matter a lot when you resell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 MINI Cooper safe?

The 2022 MINI Cooper does not have published crash-test ratings from either NHTSA or IIHS.

It earns a 3/10 safety score from our experts.

It does get standard Driving Assistant technology, which includes forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, and lane-departure warning. Adaptive cruise control is available with an automatic transmission and can bring the car to a full stop. A blind-spot monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alert is not available, which is worth keeping in mind if you often drive in tight traffic or back out of crowded spaces.

Should I buy a 2022 MINI Cooper or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 38.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.20% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds refreshed styling, standard digital instrumentation, and a new infotainment system.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $20,793, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $23,183 average.
• It leans hard into personality and adds more features plus a manual transmission option.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $25,518, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $23,183 average.
• It adds a limited-run Resolute Edition and new paint colors.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, freshness, and feature content, the 2022 is the smart default. If your priority is spending less, the 2021 is the value play; if you want the newest styling touches and do not mind paying more, the 2023 is the upgrade path.
