Used 2022 Kia Sportage for Sale nearColumbus, OH

How much does the 2022 Kia Sportage cost?

Prices have softened 8.61% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,338 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Kia Sportage a good car?

Generally — the 2022 Kia Sportage earns a 4/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its features, value, and performance upgrades, along with a comfortable interior and strong overall appeal. The Sportage also gets credit for being spacious and easy to use, which fits shoppers who want a practical compact SUV with a polished feel. On the other hand, the expert review notes outdated technology, and owner feedback points to limited rear legroom and modest acceleration.

That mix makes the Sportage a good fit if you want a well-equipped compact SUV with a premium feel and straightforward controls. It is less compelling if you prioritize the newest tech or the quickest acceleration. The market also shows 32.5% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Kia Sportage reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction. User feedback also points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with many owners highlighting the vehicle’s value and performance upgrades over earlier models. The expert review reinforces that sense of durability by describing the Sportage as competent and noting its industry-leading warranty coverage. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that some examples may show wear, uneven condition, or the kinds of issues owners mentioned around rear space and acceleration.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Kia Sportage?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a full records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on interior condition, electronics, and how the vehicle drives in everyday use. Pay close attention to rear-seat space, acceleration feel, and whether the features you want are actually present on the trim you’re considering.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX is the base trim, while the Nightfall Edition adds a darker appearance, the EX gains a standard panoramic sunroof, and the SX Turbo brings the strongest performance and the most upscale feel. The base LX misses blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic warning unless it has the LX Value Edition Package.
• Powertrain: Most versions use a 2.4-liter four-cylinder with 181 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque, while the SX Turbo upgrades to a 240 hp turbocharged setup with 260 lb-ft of torque. The turbo model is the one to target if you want the quickest acceleration.
• Safety package: Every trim includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, automatic high-beam headlights, and a driver monitoring system. Blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic warning are not standard on the base LX.
• Infotainment: You get an 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Most trims add UVO Link connected services and satellite radio, while the SX Turbo adds wireless smartphone charging and an 8-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: No fuel-economy figure is stated in the provided data.

Which 2022 Kia Sportage trim should I buy?

The 2022 Kia Sportage is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, Nightfall Edition, EX, and SX Turbo.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, but you should only choose it if price matters most and you can live without blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic warning unless you add the LX Value Edition Package.
• Nightfall Edition: This is the style-focused choice, and it makes sense if you want a darker look without jumping all the way to the top trim.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a standard panoramic sunroof while staying below the more expensive performance-oriented model.
• SX Turbo: This is the pick if you want the strongest performance, the most upscale equipment, and the most complete feature set.

For safety-minded shoppers, the blind-spot warning system with rear cross-traffic warning is standard on every version except the base LX.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Kia Sportage?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find value.

• Deal availability: 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,338 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.61% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 80.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,393, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Kia Sportage's resale value?

The current average of $17,393 sits slightly below last year's $19,032.

That price movement suggests the Sportage has softened enough to create a more buyer-friendly used market today. For a future seller, that means resale value may be steadier if you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition. A well-kept example with desirable equipment should still attract interest, especially since shoppers continue to respond to the model’s value and feature content.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Kia Sportage safe?

The 2022 Kia Sportage earns an Acceptable headlight rating from IIHS and is described as a safe SUV.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Every trim includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, automatic high-beam headlights, and a driver monitoring system. Blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic warning are standard on every version except the base LX, or they can be added through the LX Value Edition Package. The lane-keeping system is effective, though the expert review notes that it can feel intrusive at times.

Should I buy a 2022 Kia Sportage or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.61% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It blends style, space, and standard safety features with a polished feel.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $15,946, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $17,393 average.
• It offers a stylish, easy-to-use compact crossover with a strong warranty.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $23,273, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $17,393 average.
• It brings a more modern, spacious, and tech-forward cabin.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the right choice if you want a well-equipped Sportage at a softer used price than newer models. If you are especially price-sensitive, the 2021 is the value play; if you want a more modern-feeling alternative and can spend more, the 2023 is the upgrade path.
