That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favorable point, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays soft. Should I buy a 2022 Kia Soul or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.84% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $13,670, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $14,637 average.
• It keeps the Soul’s quirky personality while leaning into practicality.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $16,856, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $14,637 average.
• It adds more standard driver-assist features and a revised trim lineup.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the best all-around pick if you want a strong mix of price, satisfaction, and available inventory. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2021 is the smarter value play; if you want newer features and can spend more, the 2023 is the upgrade path.
