How much does the 2022 Kia Sorento cost?

Prices have softened 13.82% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,102 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Kia Sorento a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Kia Sorento earns a 4.7/5 user rating and an 8.7/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Look and feel and Cost effectiveness.

Owners consistently praise its modern design, spacious interior, and family-friendly layout, including third-row seating. The review summary also points to strong performance and fuel economy as recurring positives.

The trade-offs are familiar: the base engine is underwhelming, the third row is cramped, and the voice recognition system is poor. For you, that means the Sorento makes the most sense if you value style, utility, and a polished family-SUV feel more than outright power or maximum third-row comfort.

Good and great deals account for 37.4% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Kia Sorento reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable, family-friendly SUV that many shoppers feel good about living with over time. It also highlights the Sorento as a vehicle people count on for everyday use, with a reputation for being trouble-free enough to inspire confidence.

The expert evaluation reinforces that impression by emphasizing the Sorento’s solid construction, quality feel, and strong warranty. Kia also backs the model with a generous warranty and modern safety tech, which can help reduce ownership anxiety.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about basic durability and more about choosing the right trim and condition, since lower trims leave out some desirable equipment.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Kia Sorento?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 83% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a documented record. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example or a vehicle with optional equipment. Focus on cabin condition, feature operation, and whether the trim level matches the equipment you expect.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX trim is the most stripped-down version, with the smaller 8-inch touchscreen and fewer features than higher trims. The X-Line package adds a more rugged look and standard AWD, while SX Prestige brings more comfort and premium equipment.
• Powertrain: The standard 191-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder is described as unremarkable, while the turbocharged 2.5-liter and electrified powertrains are the stronger choices for performance and efficiency.
• Safety package: Kia Drive Wise is standard, but its contents vary by trim. Higher trims add features such as Blind View Monitor, while Highway Driving Assist and Intelligent Speed Limit Assist are part of the broader safety-tech story.
• Infotainment: Most trims get a standard 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation, satellite radio, Kia Connect services, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The base LX keeps the 8-inch system, and the larger screen requires a cable rather than wireless smartphone integration.
• Fuel efficiency: The gas-only turbo setup is rated at 24 mpg in combined driving, while the hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains are the efficiency standouts, with the plug-in hybrid capable of 32 miles on electricity before switching to hybrid operation and returning 34 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2022 Kia Sorento trim should I buy?

The 2022 Kia Sorento is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, S, EX, SX Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the least expensive way into the Sorento, but it is also the most basic. You get the smaller infotainment setup and the least upscale presentation, so it makes sense mainly if price is your top priority.
• S: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it keeps the Sorento affordable while moving you beyond the bare-bones base setup. It also sits at the entry point for some of the more appealing equipment and is a smarter buy than the LX if you want a more complete daily driver.
• EX: This is the trim where the Sorento starts to feel more satisfying, especially because the stronger turbocharged engine becomes available here. If you want the best balance of performance, features, and value, this is the trim to focus on.
• SX Prestige: This is the most premium choice, with the richest feature content and the most comfort-oriented setup. It suits you best if you want the Sorento to feel as upscale as possible and do not mind paying for it.

Kia Drive Wise is standard across the lineup, but the exact feature mix changes by trim, and some of the most advanced items are reserved for the upper trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Kia Sorento?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 37.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,102 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.82% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 83.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,697, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Kia Sorento's resale value?

The current average of $22,697 sits slightly below last year's $26,336.

That decline suggests the Sorento has become more affordable for used buyers, but it also means sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you are planning to sell later, the current trend implies that market expectations have softened, so condition and trim choice will matter more when you go to list it.

The good news is that the Sorento still has broad appeal thanks to its style, family-friendly layout, and strong feature set. That helps support demand, especially for well-kept examples with desirable equipment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Kia Sorento safe?

The 2022 Sorento earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS and a four-star overall crash-test rating from NHTSA, with four-star ratings in frontal-impact protection and rollover resistance, and five-star ratings in all other NHTSA tests.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Kia Drive Wise is standard on every Sorento, though the exact contents vary by trim. The system includes features such as rear-seat reminder, Junction Assist, Highway Driving Assist, and Intelligent Speed Limit Assist. Blind View Monitor is reserved for the SX Prestige X-Line, so not every trim gets the same level of visibility tech.

One caveat is that the headlights on all but the SX and SX Prestige trims receive the lower IIHS headlight rating. If safety is a top priority, that trim-level difference is worth paying attention to.

Should I buy a 2022 Kia Sorento or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 37.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 83% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.82% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 adds meaningful updates, including a standard 10.25-inch infotainment system on most trims and expanded X-Line availability.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $19,844, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $22,697 average.
• It is a redesigned three-row SUV that feels like a strong all-around choice.

The bottom line: If you want the better-equipped and more current version, the 2022 is the stronger pick. If your main goal is to spend less and you are comfortable giving up some of the 2022 updates, the 2021 is the value-oriented alternative.
