What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Kia Carnival?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 79.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free listings are strong but not universal. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on interior condition, sliding-door operation, and whether the vehicle’s tech features work as expected. It’s also smart to pay attention to trim-specific equipment so you know exactly what you’re getting.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: LX has the standard grille, silver-painted 17-inch aluminum wheels, cloth seats, and a two-tone black-and-gray interior, while EX adds 19-inch machined-finish wheels, simulated open-pore wood trim, SynTex simulated leather, and more color choices. SX swaps in a mirrored grid-pattern grille and black wheels, and SX Prestige adds real leather and VIP Lounge Seats.
• Powertrain: The Carnival uses a 3.5-liter V6 with 290 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic and front-wheel drive. There is no all-wheel drive or electrified powertrain option.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, active blind-spot and rear cross-traffic warning with collision avoidance, lane-departure, lane-keeping, and lane-centering assistance, rear parking sensors, a driver monitoring system, a reversing camera with dynamic parking guidance lines, ultrasonic rear occupant alert, and Safe Exit Assist. EX adds front parking sensors, cyclist detection, navigation-based adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, and Highway Driving Assist.
• Infotainment: LX gets an 8-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, and six speakers. EX upgrades to a 12.3-inch widescreen system with wired smartphone integration, navigation, wireless charging, and eight speakers, while SX adds rear entertainment and SX Prestige brings a 12.3-inch digital instrument display and a 12-speaker Bose system.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA says the Carnival should get 22 mpg in combined driving, and the expert test loop returned 21.7 mpg.

Which 2022 Kia Carnival trim should I buy?

The 2022 Kia Carnival is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, EX, SX, and SX Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the value-focused starting point, and it already gives you wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an 8-inch touchscreen, and the core safety suite. It’s the trim to consider if you want the Carnival’s space and tech without paying for extras you may not need.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the 12.3-inch widescreen infotainment system, navigation, wireless charging, front parking sensors, cyclist detection, and Highway Driving Assist. It also brings more upscale interior materials and more convenience features.
• SX: This trim is for you if you want the more distinctive exterior treatment plus the rear-seat entertainment system and the surround-view camera system. It adds a lot of family-friendly tech, especially if you regularly carry passengers in the back.
• SX Prestige: This is the luxury-leaning choice, with real leather, VIP Lounge Seats, a 12.3-inch digital instrument display, a 12-speaker Bose audio system, and the Blind View Monitor. It suits you best if you want the most premium Carnival experience.

Safe Exit Assist is standard across the lineup, and EX and higher add more advanced driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Kia Carnival?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on strong listings.

• Deal availability: 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 654 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.20% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 79.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $23,680, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Kia Carnival's resale value?

The current average of $23,680 sits slightly below last year's $27,280.

That price movement suggests the Carnival has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. If you purchase near the current average or below it, you may have a better chance of limiting your loss when it’s time to sell.

The model’s strong value story and broad family appeal should help keep demand steady. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Kia Carnival safe?

Should I buy a 2022 Kia Carnival or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 79.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.20% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The all-new redesign brings crossover styling, strong value, and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $27,866, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $23,680 average.
• It keeps the stylish minivan look while reinforcing the SUV-like presentation.

The bottom line: If you want the better price and strong market value, the 2022 is the smarter buy. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model year, the 2023 is the secondary path for shoppers who prioritize freshness over savings.
