How much does the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee cost?

Prices have softened 12.56% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 8,373 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for comparison shopping.

Is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns a 4.9/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Technology, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise the luxurious feel, impressive safety features, and high-quality interior materials like leather. The Grand Cherokee also stands out for its stylish design and strong capability, which makes it appealing if you want a midsize SUV that can handle rough terrain without giving up daily comfort.

The main trade-offs are a cramped back seat and weak value for money. That means you should like the Grand Cherokee’s mix of premium feel and capability enough to accept some practicality and pricing compromises.

With 33.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with praise centered on the luxurious feel, safety features, and interior quality that owners can count on over time. The expert review also reinforces that this Grand Cherokee is built to deliver a refined, capable driving experience with strong everyday usability.

Jeep Wave adds three complimentary oil changes and tire rotations during the first 36 months of ownership, which helps reduce early maintenance costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that higher-complexity versions can be more expensive to own if prior maintenance was neglected.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any listing you like, even if the vehicle looks clean on paper. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on higher-trim or more complex versions, and pay close attention to interior condition, electronics, and signs of hard use. If you want the best ownership experience, focus on how well the vehicle has been maintained rather than just the badge or trim name.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Laredo is the simplest and most affordable version, while Trailhawk adds off-roading equipment and capability, and Summit Reserve is the luxury-focused choice. Lower trims use a more functional matte-black finish on controls, while higher trims can have glossy surfaces that are harder to use.
• Powertrain: You can choose rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, with a V6 or V8 engine. The V6 is the more efficient choice, while the V8 adds more power and towing capability.
• Safety package: Active Driving Assist brings adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability and lane-centering assistance, and Intersection Collision Assist adds front cross-traffic warning at intersections. A hands-free version of Active Driving Assist is also coming later in the model year.
• Infotainment: Uconnect 5 is standard, with over-the-air updates, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Amazon Alexa integration, and SiriusXM 360L. Most trims get an 8.4-inch touchscreen, while a 10.1-inch screen is standard on Summit and Summit Reserve and available on most other trims except Laredo.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA estimates range from 17 mpg in combined driving with the V8 and 4WD to 21 mpg with the V6 and any drivetrain. The expert test also recorded results as high as 21.3 mpg with the V6 and Quadra-Trac I.

Which 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee trim should I buy?

The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee is offered in 7 trim levels: Laredo, Altitude, Limited, Trailhawk, Overland, Summit, Summit Reserve.

Here's the short version:

• Laredo: This is the entry point if you want the Grand Cherokee’s style and capability at the lowest starting point. It keeps things simple and affordable, but it also misses some of the richer equipment found higher up the range.
• Altitude: Choose this if you want a step up from the base model without jumping all the way to the luxury end. It sits in the middle of the lineup and should suit you if you want more style and equipment than Laredo.
• Limited: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it balances equipment and price well. It also unlocks the optional front passenger interactive display, which adds a more upscale tech experience.
• Trailhawk: Buy this if off-road capability is your priority. It adds serious hardware, including Quadra-Drive II, an electronic locking rear differential, air suspension, skid plates, and off-road-focused features.
• Overland: This is the trim to consider if you want a more premium feel and access to Quadra-Trac II with a two-speed transfer case. It suits buyers who want comfort and capability in equal measure.
• Summit: This trim leans into luxury and can be paired with Quadra-Drive II as an option. It is a strong choice if you want a more upscale Grand Cherokee without going all the way to the top.
• Summit Reserve: This is the plushest version, with premium quilted and stitched leather, heated, ventilated, and massaging front seats, a McIntosh audio system, and a panoramic sunroof. It is the right pick if you want the most luxurious Grand Cherokee experience.

For safety-minded shoppers, the Grand Cherokee’s ADAS package includes Intersection Collision Assist and Active Driving Assist, but availability can vary by trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

The market looks selective rather than overheated, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 8,373 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.56% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $26,214, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee's resale value?

The current average of $26,214 sits slightly below last year's $29,979.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment rather than assuming the model will hold its price automatically.

Strong owner satisfaction can help support demand when you eventually sell. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee safe?

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Jeep equips the Grand Cherokee with an impressive collection of advanced driver assistance systems, including Intersection Collision Assist and Active Driving Assist with adaptive cruise control and lane-centering assistance. The structure also uses extensive aluminum and high-strength steel, which supports the SUV’s safety-focused design.

One caveat is that the review notes the model’s crash-test performance remains to be seen, so you should still pay close attention to any available test results and the specific equipment on the vehicle you’re considering. Active Driving Assist can also disconnect on tighter curves, so it is not a substitute for attentive driving.

Should I buy a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.56% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 brings a major technology and sophistication upgrade along with redesigned styling and broad powertrain choice.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $22,005, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $26,214 average.
• It offers the familiar outgoing Grand Cherokee formula with stylish design and premium materials.

The bottom line: Choose the 2022 if you want the redesigned model with stronger tech, broader capability, and better market inventory. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 remains the value play, especially if you’re comfortable giving up the newer generation’s upgrades.

How does the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee compare to the 2022 Ford Explorer?

Expert Pros & Cons (per CarGurus review team)

2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee:

• Pros: Impressive technology, Multiple powertrain options, Great ride quality.
• Cons: Cramped back seat, Poor value for money.

2022 Ford Explorer:

• Pros: Multiple powertrain options, Plenty of cargo space, Great safety ratings.
• Cons: Cramped third row, Outdated infotainment technology, Unimpressive value equation.

Our experts score the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 8/10 and the 2022 Ford Explorer 7.5/10. The Grand Cherokee looks like the better pick if you care more about technology and ride quality, while the Explorer leans harder into cargo space and safety ratings. Both offer multiple powertrain options, but the Jeep’s cramped back seat and weaker value case are worth weighing against the Ford’s outdated infotainment and third-row limitations.
