How much does the 2022 Jeep Compass cost?

Prices have softened 8.40% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 5,376 listings available, which suggests solid inventory availability for shoppers comparing prices and trims.

Is the 2022 Jeep Compass a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 5/5 user-rated SUV with an expert score of 6.3/10. The standout strength is Technology at 8/10. Owners commonly praise the Compass for its value for money, comfort, and impressive features, and they also highlight the interior design and overall performance. That lines up with the overview’s focus on a more premium-feeling compact SUV with a richer cabin and more polished presentation. The trade-offs are fairly pedestrian performance and poor value for money, so it makes the most sense if you want upscale touches and equipment more than bargain pricing or quick acceleration. Good and great deals account for 35.7% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Jeep Compass reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. Owners’ feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with positive comments centered on comfort and features rather than recurring complaints. Jeep says the Compass qualifies for the Jeep Wave program, which includes three years of free scheduled maintenance and other ownership perks. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about owner sentiment and more about making sure the specific vehicle has been maintained well and driven in a way that matches its powertrain’s limitations.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Jeep Compass?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with a lot of city driving. Focus on overall condition, because the Compass’s appeal depends heavily on how well the cabin, tech, and drivetrain have held up. If you’re shopping a used one, make sure the equipment on the specific vehicle matches the trim and options you expect.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup starts with the base Jeep Compass Sport trim level, then moves up through Latitude, Latitude Lux, Limited, Trailhawk, and High Altitude. The base trim is the most stripped-down starting point, while higher trims add the more upscale cabin presentation and equipment that help the Compass feel premium.
• Powertrain: Every 2022 Compass uses a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 177 horsepower and 172 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel-drive models use a six-speed automatic, while AWD models use a nine-speed automatic. The setup is tuned more for efficiency than urgency, so it can feel slow and busy in everyday driving.
• Safety package: Every version includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Highway Assist, parking assistance, and a 360-degree surround-view camera are available, but not every vehicle will have them.
• Infotainment: An 8.4-inch touchscreen is standard, and a 10.1-inch screen is available. Uconnect 5 includes wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, over-the-air updates, Bluetooth pairing for two devices, satellite radio, and voice text-to-reply.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA says the Compass High Altitude should have returned 25 mpg in combined driving, and the test vehicle averaged 23.8 mpg on the review loop.

Which 2022 Jeep Compass trim should I buy?

The 2022 Jeep Compass is offered in 6 trim levels: Sport, Latitude, Latitude Lux, Limited, Trailhawk, and High Altitude.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the lowest starting point and plan to add only the essentials.
• Latitude: This is the trim to watch if you want the best balance of price and equipment, since it moves you beyond the most basic setup without pushing too far up the range.
• Latitude Lux: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel and more comfort-focused equipment than the lower trims.
• Limited: This is the better pick if you want a more premium presentation and more of the features that help the Compass justify its pricing.
• Trailhawk: Pick this if you want the most capable version for rougher terrain, since it adds the off-road-focused hardware and setup described in the review.
• High Altitude: This is the most expensive version and the best fit if you want the richest cabin presentation and the most fully loaded feel.

The safety package is broad across the lineup, but some advanced features are available rather than standard, so check each vehicle carefully.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Jeep Compass?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 5,376 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.40% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,381, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Jeep Compass's resale value?

The current average of $20,381 sits slightly below last year's $22,249.

That price movement suggests the Compass has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right point. If you purchase near the current average or below it, you may have a better chance of limiting your loss when it’s time to sell. The model’s strong owner satisfaction also helps support demand in the used market.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Jeep Compass safe?

The 2022 Jeep Compass earns a three-star rollover resistance rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Every version comes with forward-collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Highway Assist, which pairs adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assistance, is available later in the model year, along with parking assistance and a 360-degree surround-view camera. The review also notes that lane-keep assist can feel too obvious at low speeds and that the forward-collision warning system can produce false positives in some situations.

Should I buy a 2022 Jeep Compass or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.40% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 brings a more premium-feeling cabin and upgraded technology.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $22,184, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $20,381 average.
• It adds a turbocharged engine and standard all-wheel drive.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2022 is the smarter starting point because it combines lower pricing with strong owner satisfaction and a solid deal share. If you’re willing to spend more for the newer mechanical upgrades, the 2023 is the better fit.
