How much does the 2022 Jeep Compass cost?

Prices have softened 7.94% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 5,508 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and prices.

Is the 2022 Jeep Compass a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Jeep Compass earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.33/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 8/10.

Owners commonly praise the Compass for its value for money, comfort, interior design, and impressive features. The overview also points to premium interior materials and a more upscale cabin presentation, which helps explain why it feels more polished than many small SUVs.

The trade-offs are fairly pedestrian performance and poor value for money, so you should expect the appeal to come more from the cabin, equipment, and brand image than from driving excitement or bargain pricing. That makes it a better fit if you want a compact SUV with a richer interior and a more premium feel.

With 37.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is enough market flexibility to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Jeep Compass reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a reliable, comfortable, and generally trouble-free ownership experience, with drivers also highlighting the Compass as a vehicle they feel good about over the long term. The expert notes add that Jeep includes three years of free scheduled maintenance through the Jeep Wave program, which helps reduce early ownership costs.

That said, used buyers should still focus on service history and overall condition, since long-term dependability depends heavily on how the vehicle was maintained.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Jeep Compass?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, confirm whether the vehicle has had any prior damage, and prioritize a thorough inspection of the drivetrain, electronics, and interior condition. Because the Compass is positioned as a premium compact SUV, you’ll want to make sure the features you expect are actually present and functioning as advertised.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup starts with the base Sport trim level and moves up through Latitude, Latitude Lux, Limited, Trailhawk, and High Altitude. The higher trims bring a more upscale cabin, with the High Altitude standing out for its luxury-grade leather seats, soft-touch surfaces, updated digital instrumentation, and more premium presentation.
• Powertrain: Every 2022 Compass uses a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 177 horsepower and 172 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel-drive models use a six-speed automatic, while AWD models use a nine-speed automatic. The AWD system can send power to the rear wheels when needed and includes a driveline disconnect system to help maximize fuel economy.
• Safety package: Every version includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Highway Assist, adaptive cruise control with lane-centering, parking assistance, and a 360-degree surround-view camera are also available, but not every trim gets the same equipment.
• Infotainment: Uconnect 5 is standard with an 8.4-inch touchscreen, while a 10.1-inch screen is available. Wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, over-the-air updates, Bluetooth pairing for two devices, satellite radio, and voice text-to-reply are included.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA says the Compass High Altitude should have returned 25 mpg in combined driving, and the test vehicle averaged 23.8 mpg. The AWD system also uses a driveline disconnect to help improve efficiency when all-wheel drive is not needed.

Which 2022 Jeep Compass trim should I buy?

The 2022 Jeep Compass is offered in 6 trim levels: Sport, Latitude, Latitude Lux, Limited, Trailhawk, and High Altitude.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and are comfortable with a simpler setup. It still gets the core safety and tech features, but it is the trim most likely to feel basic compared with the rest of the lineup.
• Latitude: This is the first step up if you want a more balanced everyday Compass without jumping too far in price. It should suit you if you want a better mix of equipment and value than the base trim.
• Latitude Lux: This trim is the better choice if you want a more upscale feel without going all the way to the top of the range. It is a sensible middle ground for shoppers who care about comfort and features.
• Limited: This is the trim to target if you want a stronger luxury lean and a more polished cabin. It is a good fit if you want the Compass to feel more premium without paying for the most expensive version.
• Trailhawk: Choose this if you want the most capable version for rougher terrain. The Trailhawk adds a low-range AWD system, a 20:1 crawl ratio, hill descent control, skid plates, and 8.6 inches of ground clearance.
• High Altitude: This is the best choice if you want the most upscale Compass experience. It brings the richest interior presentation, premium materials, and the most fully loaded feel, but it also sits at the top of the price range.

The safety package is broad across the lineup, but some advanced driver-assistance features remain available rather than standard on every trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Jeep Compass?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 37.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 5,508 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.94% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,702, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Jeep Compass's resale value?

The current average of $20,702 sits slightly below last year's $22,487.

That price movement suggests the Compass has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price today. A softer market can also make it easier to find a competitive entry point, but it means you should be realistic about near-term resale gains.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Jeep Compass safe?

The 2022 Jeep Compass earns a three-star rollover resistance rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Every version includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Highway Assist, which combines adaptive cruise control and lane-centering assistance, is also part of the safety story later in the model year, along with available parking assistance and a 360-degree surround-view camera.

The expert notes also point to some caveats: lane-keep assist can feel too obvious at lower speeds, and the forward-collision warning system produced false positives in some situations. The safety review also notes that headlight performance needs improvement.

Should I buy a 2022 Jeep Compass or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 37.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.94% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 brings a more premium cabin, upgraded tech, and improved safety features.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $22,401, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $20,702 average.
• It adds a standard turbocharged engine.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2022 is the smarter starting point because it combines a lower average price with strong owner satisfaction and a broad feature set. If you are willing to pay more for a newer mechanical upgrade, the 2023 is the better alternative.
