Used 2022 Hyundai Kona for Sale nearIrvine, CA

How much does the 2022 Hyundai Kona cost?

Prices have softened 7.00% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,879 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Hyundai Kona a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Hyundai Kona earns a 4.9/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Cost effectiveness.

Owners consistently praise its fun driving experience, safety features, and impressive tech, and they also like its sleek design and smooth handling. In use-case terms, that makes it a strong fit if you want a small SUV that feels more engaging than purely practical.

The trade-offs are clear: the back seat is cramped, and cargo space is limited. That means you should weigh its personality and value against your need for rear-seat room and everyday utility.

There are 34.1% good or great deals in the market, which points to solid availability for value-focused shoppers.

Is the 2022 Hyundai Kona reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners describe it as dependable in the ways that matter most for daily use, with praise centered on its fun driving experience, safety features, and tech that feels easy to live with. The Kona also comes across as a vehicle you can count on for smooth handling and a polished ownership experience.

Hyundai’s complimentary maintenance and long warranty coverage add another layer of confidence for long-term ownership. For used buyers, the main risk is making sure the specific vehicle has been cared for properly, since condition will matter more than the model’s broad reputation.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Hyundai Kona?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free listings are strong but not universal. Prioritize a thorough inspection of the interior and cargo area, since the Kona’s packaging is one of its main compromises. Focus on condition, feature content, and whether the specific trim matches what you need day to day.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SE starts with an 8-inch display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a six-speaker audio system, while higher trims add more convenience and tech. The N Line and Kona N bring the sportiest styling and equipment, and the N Line is the best-value trim if you want the strongest mix of features and price.
• Powertrain: The lower trims use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 147 horsepower and a CVT, while the N Line and Limited step up to a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder with 195 hp and a seven-speed DCT. The Kona N uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 276 hp and an eight-speed wet DCT.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assistance, lane-following assistance, driver attention warning, and rear occupant alert. Available upgrades include adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, blind-spot warning with collision avoidance, Highway Drive Assist, rear cross-traffic alert with collision avoidance, and Safe Exit Warning.
• Infotainment: The base model gets an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Higher trims add a 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation and traffic information, and the larger screen uses wired smartphone integration.
• Fuel efficiency: FWD Konas except the Kona N are rated at 32 mpg combined, AWD versions are rated at 29-30 mpg combined depending on engine, and the Kona Electric reaches 120 MPGe. During testing, the Kona N Line averaged 28.5 mpg in mostly city driving.

Which 2022 Hyundai Kona trim should I buy?

The 2022 Hyundai Kona is offered in 5 trim levels: SE, SEL, N Line, Limited, and Kona N.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Kona experience with the 8-inch screen, wireless smartphone integration, and the standard safety basics. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the lineup.
• SEL: This trim adds more convenience and connected features, including SiriusXM, HD Radio, and Hyundai Blue Link, and it can be paired with a Convenience Package for more comfort and tech. It’s the trim to consider if you want a better-equipped daily driver without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• N Line: This is the best-value trim. It adds the turbocharged 1.6-liter engine, sportier styling, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, and more premium tech, making it the sweet spot for most shoppers.
• Limited: This trim focuses on a more upscale feel with the 10.25-inch touchscreen standard, navigation, traffic information, and the premium audio system. Choose it if you want the most comfort and tech without going all the way to the performance model.
• Kona N: This is the performance flagship, with the 276-hp turbo engine, performance-focused transmission, launch control, variable exhaust, and other track-oriented hardware. Buy this only if you want the most aggressive driving experience in the lineup.

The safety package is somewhat limited on the base trim, so if advanced driver assistance matters to you, shop carefully as you move up the lineup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Hyundai Kona?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough deal activity to find value.

• Deal availability: 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,879 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.00% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 81.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,585, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Hyundai Kona's resale value?

The current average of $17,613 sits slightly below last year's $18,940.

That price movement suggests the Kona has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. A lower entry point today can reduce the amount of value left to lose over the next few years.

The model’s strong owner satisfaction also helps support demand in the used market. If you keep mileage reasonable and maintain the vehicle well, you should be in a better position when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Hyundai Kona safe?

The 2022 Hyundai Kona earns five-star ratings for overall crash protection from NHTSA, with five-star ratings for front and side crash protection and four-star rollover resistance. It also earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver assistance includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assistance, lane-following assistance, driver attention warning, and rear occupant alert. Available upgrades add adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, blind-spot warning with collision avoidance, Highway Drive Assist, rear cross-traffic alert with collision avoidance, and Safe Exit Warning.

One caveat is the child-seat anchor result, which kept the Kona from earning Top Safety Pick status. If child-seat installation is a priority, that’s worth checking closely during your test drive.

Should I buy a 2022 Hyundai Kona or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.00% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 refresh adds updated styling, enhanced powertrains, and upgraded convenience, connectivity, and safety features.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $15,221, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $17,613 average.
• It offers a playful, style-forward small crossover feel with strong handling and easy-to-use tech.

The bottom line: Choose the 2022 if you want the refreshed styling, broader tech, and stronger powertrain choices. If your priority is saving money and you’re comfortable giving up some of the 2022 updates, the 2021 is the value play.
