Is the 2022 Honda Odyssey a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Honda Odyssey earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.00/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Form and function and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its comfort, spaciousness, and driving experience, and many say it works especially well for family travel and long trips. The expert review also backs up the Odyssey’s appeal as a roomy, practical minivan with a pleasant driving character.

The trade-offs are clear: it lacks all-wheel drive, its technology is dated, and the brakes need improvement. That makes it a stronger fit if you value comfort, space, and an easygoing drive more than the newest features.

With 32.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.

Is the 2022 Honda Odyssey reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with repeated praise for comfort and family usefulness that tends to matter over the long haul. The expert review also describes the Odyssey as a vehicle with an “original recipe” approach that remains appealing, which supports the sense that it is built around familiar, proven strengths.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the example you choose has been maintained well and still feels fresh enough for daily family use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Honda Odyssey?

At 73.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, alignment, and signs of prior repair. It also makes sense to focus on interior condition, brake feel, and whether the technology and convenience features work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes the base LX, EX, EX-L, Touring, and Elite. The base trim is the most stripped-down, while higher trims add leather, more technology, and more convenience equipment.
• Powertrain: Every version uses a 3.5-liter V6 with a 10-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. The review notes that all-wheel drive and an electrified powertrain are not available.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and a rear-seat reminder. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert require EX or above.
• Infotainment: Starting with EX, you get an 8-inch touchscreen, satellite radio, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Touring is required for navigation and HondaLink connected services, including WiFi hotspot access.
• Fuel efficiency: The review cites 22 mpg in combined driving, and the test drive returned 22.6 mpg.

Which 2022 Honda Odyssey trim should I buy?

The 2022 Honda Odyssey is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L, Touring, and Elite.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, but it is the most basic version and leaves out some of the convenience and tech upgrades that make the Odyssey easier to live with every day.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
• EX-L: This is the right pick if you want a more upscale cabin, since it adds leather upholstery and keeps the Odyssey’s core family-friendly strengths intact.
• Touring: Choose this if you want the rear-seat entertainment system, navigation, HondaLink connected services, CabinWatch, and CabinTalk.
• Elite: This is the most fully equipped version, adding the premium audio system, wireless charging, and the most upscale presentation.

The safety package is strongest on EX and above because that is where blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert come in.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Honda Odyssey?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough price softness to create opportunities.

• Deal availability: 32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,825 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.78% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 73.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $28,266, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Honda Odyssey's resale value?

The current average of $28,266 sits slightly below last year's $31,682.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point if you plan to keep the vehicle for several years. For a future seller, the softer current pricing means resale upside may be more limited in the near term unless the van is especially clean, well equipped, and well maintained.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Honda Odyssey safe?

The 2022 Odyssey earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS and five-star ratings from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard on every trim and includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and a rear-seat reminder. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are not standard on the base LX and require EX or above.

One caveat is that the system can feel abrupt in use, and the blind-spot warning light placement is less intuitive than it should be. That means the Odyssey’s safety hardware is strong on paper, but you should still test how naturally it works for you during a drive.

Should I buy a 2022 Honda Odyssey or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 73.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.78% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 stands out for its enjoyable driving character and strong safety ratings.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $25,961, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $28,266 average.
• It is a freshened model with strong family-friendly practicality and easy day-to-day usability.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-market balance of price, satisfaction, and safety, the 2022 is the better default choice. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 is worth a look, especially if you find one in excellent condition.
