Used 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback for Sale near Kansas

How much does the 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback cost?

Prices have softened 4.58% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,255 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

The overview and test-drive notes point to a hatchback that gives you Civic familiarity with more useful cargo space, a spacious cabin, and a manual transmission option. That makes it especially appealing if you want everyday versatility without giving up a compact-car footprint.

The trade-offs are clear: the base engine is underwhelming, the stereo is lacking, and value for money is weak. Even so, the overall package is well-rounded if you care more about practicality and driving flexibility than bargain pricing.

34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview describes this generation as practical and appealing for buyers who want a compact car with strong everyday usefulness, while the expert notes emphasize a well-executed cabin, useful controls, and a generally polished driving experience. The performance notes also suggest the CVT works well with the turbocharged engine and stays relatively quiet in normal use.

The cost-effectiveness notes add that Honda includes complimentary scheduled maintenance for a couple of years on some rivals, which puts pressure on the Civic Hatchback’s value equation, but the Honda still stands out for its overall balance. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that you should be especially careful about trim-specific equipment gaps and condition, since the best features are concentrated higher up the lineup.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback?

At 74% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on body condition, repair quality, and any signs of prior collision work. It also makes sense to compare trim equipment carefully, because some of the most desirable safety and tech features are not standard on every version.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: LX, Sport, EX-L, and Sport Touring each bring different equipment levels, and the base trims miss some of the more desirable convenience and safety features that show up higher in the lineup.
• Powertrain: The LX uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with a CVT, while the Sport adds a manual option; EX-L and Sport Touring upgrade to a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder with more power and stronger torque delivery.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, Road Departure Mitigation, Lane Keeping Assist, low-speed following, and Traffic Jam Assist, but blind-spot warning is limited to EX-L and Sport Touring, and rear cross-traffic warning is Sport Touring only.
• Infotainment: LX, Sport, and EX-L get a 7-inch touchscreen with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while Sport Touring adds a 9-inch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, navigation, and a 12-speaker Bose audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The Sport Touring is rated at 33 mpg combined with the CVT and 31 mpg combined with the manual, and real-world testing came close to those figures.

Which 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback trim should I buy?

The 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, Sport, EX-L, and Sport Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the simplest way into the hatchback, but it is also the most stripped-down version, so you give up some of the nicer tech and safety conveniences that make the higher trims easier to live with.
• Sport: This is the trim that makes the most sense for many shoppers because it adds more flexibility, including a manual transmission option, while staying below the top trims in price.
• EX-L: This is the better choice if you want the turbocharged engine and more upscale equipment, along with added safety content that is not standard on the lower trims.
• Sport Touring: This is the most fully equipped version, with the best infotainment, the strongest feature set, and the manual transmission option for drivers who want the most engaging setup.

The safety-package note to keep in mind is that blind-spot warning is limited to EX-L and Sport Touring, while rear cross-traffic warning is reserved for Sport Touring.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,255 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.58% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 74.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,771, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback's resale value?

The current average of $23,136 sits slightly below last year's $24,247.

That decline suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more affordably now but may also limit upside if you plan to sell soon. If you are thinking about future resale, the current pricing trend points to a model that is holding value reasonably well rather than surging upward.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback safe?

The 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is the standard driver-assistance suite, and it includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, Road Departure Mitigation, Lane Keeping Assist, low-speed following, and Traffic Jam Assist. Blind-spot warning is limited to EX-L and Sport Touring, and rear cross-traffic warning is reserved for Sport Touring.

One caveat is that the manual-transmission versions do not get the low-speed following and Traffic Jam Assist functions, so you should check the exact trim and transmission if those features matter to you.

Should I buy a 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 74% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.58% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 model is the redesigned hatchback year, with a more practical cargo area and a more modern cabin than the previous generation.

The bottom line: If you want the redesigned Civic Hatchback with strong practicality, good safety, and a broad used-car inventory, the 2022 is the right place to start. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can still shop nearby years, but the 2022 gives you the best mix of modern features and market availability in this generation.
