Used 2022 GMC Canyon for Sale nearPittsburgh, PA

How much does the 2022 GMC Canyon cost?

Prices have softened 6.98% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,557 listings available, which gives you a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 GMC Canyon a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 4.8/5 user-rated truck with an expert score of 6.3/10. The model scores 8/10 across Performance and Form and function.

Owners consistently praise its smooth ride, responsive handling, and quiet cabin. They also like the interior quality and the way it feels in corners, while the truck’s easy-to-use technology adds to its appeal.

The trade-offs are that the base engine is underwhelming and advanced safety features are not standard. It also fits buyers who want a midsize truck with a more premium feel and everyday livability rather than full-size size and capability.

With 35.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 GMC Canyon reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners describe it as smooth, quiet, and enjoyable to live with, and that kind of day-to-day consistency usually matters more than flashy specs when you’re planning to keep a truck for years. The ownership experience also benefits from the Canyon’s reputation for being easy to drive and comfortable in regular use.

The expert evaluation also points to a truck that feels solid and steady, with powertrains that cover a wide range of needs. GMC covers the cost of the first scheduled maintenance visit, which helps early ownership costs a bit.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a truck with this much equipment variation can age very differently depending on trim, engine, and how it was maintained.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 GMC Canyon?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not guarantee a clean individual truck. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering an AT4 or a higher-mileage example, and focus on overall condition, maintenance records, and signs of hard use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Elevation Standard is the most basic version, with typical GM switchgear and materials, while the Denali brings a much more upscale look with features like a unique chrome grille, 20-inch wheels, heated and ventilated leather seats, and a Bose premium audio system. The AT4 adds rugged styling and premium touches, but the base trim is where you’ll feel the biggest feature gap.
• Powertrain: You can choose from a 200-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder, a 308-hp 3.6-liter V6, or a 181-hp 2.8-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder with 369 pound-feet of torque. The base engine is adequate but uninspiring, while the V6 and diesel bring stronger capability.
• Safety package: The Driver Alert package includes forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and rear parking assistance. It is available on the Elevation and AT4 and standard on the Denali, but rear park assist is only available on models equipped with leather seats.
• Infotainment: The Elevation Standard gets a 7-inch color touchscreen, while the Elevation upgrades to an 8-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth streaming audio, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The AT4 adds wireless smartphone charging, and the Denali adds navigation and a high-definition rearview camera.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.5-liter four-cylinder returns 22 mpg combined, or 21 mpg with 4WD. The turbodiesel gets 23 mpg combined with RWD and 22 mpg with 4WD, while the V6 returns 21 mpg combined with RWD and 19 mpg with 4WD.

Which 2022 GMC Canyon trim should I buy?

The 2022 GMC Canyon is offered in 4 trim levels: Elevation Standard, Elevation, AT4, and Denali.

Here's the short version:

• Elevation Standard: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Canyon and can live without advanced driver aids or the richer cabin materials found higher up.
• Elevation: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the larger 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto while staying below the more expensive off-road and luxury versions.
• AT4: Choose this if you want the more rugged, off-road-focused setup along with premium touches like leather seating, wireless charging, and the available off-road performance package.
• Denali: This is the luxury pick, with the most upscale appearance and the most standard convenience and driver-assist content, including the Driver Alert package.

The Driver Alert package is available on the Elevation and AT4 and standard on the Denali, but rear park assist requires leather seats.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 GMC Canyon?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 35.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,557 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.98% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 83.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $29,706, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 GMC Canyon's resale value?

The current average of $29,706 sits slightly below last year's $31,934.

That softer pricing suggests the Canyon has already absorbed some of its near-term depreciation, which can help if you buy now and later resell into a steadier market. For a future seller, that means your biggest value risk is likely to come from mileage, condition, and trim choice rather than from a dramatic market swing.

The truck’s premium positioning can help support demand, especially for well-kept examples with desirable equipment. Stronger trims and cleaner histories should be easier to move than bare-bones trucks with visible wear.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 GMC Canyon safe?

The 2022 GMC Canyon earns four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and five-star ratings in side protection from NHTSA.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

The Canyon’s Driver Alert package includes forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and rear parking assistance. It is available on the Elevation and AT4 and standard on the Denali, but rear park assist is only available on models equipped with leather seats.

The safety picture is held back by the lack of several advanced driver aids, including adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot warning, and lane-keeping or lane-centering assistance. IIHS also flagged weak points, including a Poor result for the front passenger-side small overlap structure and safety cage, a Poor rating for headlights, and a Marginal rating for LATCH anchors.

Should I buy a 2022 GMC Canyon or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.98% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the premium-feeling midsize-truck formula while adding a new Denali Black Edition package and renaming High Elevation to Elevation Premium.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $27,724, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $29,706 average.
• It adds a refreshed look and an AT4 trim while staying familiar underneath.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $37,909, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $29,706 average.
• It brings a redesigned third-generation Canyon with more upscale positioning and added off-road capability.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, inventory, and owner satisfaction, the 2022 is the sensible default. If your budget is tighter, the 2021 can save you money while keeping much of the same basic appeal. If you want the newer redesign and can spend more, the 2023 is the upgrade path.
