Used 2022 Ford Expedition for Sale nearLexington, KY

How much does the 2022 Ford Expedition cost?

Prices have softened 19.07% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,315 listings available, which suggests you have a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Ford Expedition a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Ford Expedition earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Form and function.

Owners consistently praise its towing capability, comfort for long trips, and spacious interior. They also describe it as a good value relative to other large SUVs, and many appreciate its strong overall usefulness for family and hauling duties.

On the expert side, the main trade-offs are poor fuel economy and a busy ride quality, along with occasional technical glitches. That said, the Expedition’s size, technology, and long-distance comfort make it a strong fit if you want a full-size SUV for family travel, towing, and everyday utility.

Good and great deals account for 35.4% of listings, so there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Ford Expedition reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many shoppers, especially if you value comfort, towing, and a roomy cabin. The expert evaluation also reinforces the Expedition’s long-haul appeal through its strong powertrain and comfortable, spacious cabin.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a large, feature-rich SUV can bring higher running costs and more complexity than smaller vehicles.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Ford Expedition?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully, because accident-free listings are not the same as guaranteed problem-free vehicles. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on ride quality, electronics, and any signs of heavy use, especially if the SUV has been used for towing or family hauling. Pay close attention to condition inside and out, since this is a large, expensive vehicle where wear can add up quickly.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes XL STX, XLT, Limited, King Ranch, and Platinum, plus the Timberline. Base versions are lighter on equipment, while higher trims add more comfort, technology, and convenience features. The Timberline stands apart with standard 4WD, all-terrain tires, suspension modifications, more ground clearance, a skid plate, and off-roading tech such as Trail Turn Assist.
• Powertrain: Every version uses a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, with some versions getting a high-output setup. The engine is a major strength, and fuel economy ranges from 17 mpg to 19 mpg in combined driving.
• Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, a driver monitoring system, automatic high-beam headlights, and a rear-seat reminder system. Starting with Limited, Co-Pilot360 Assist+ adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-centering assist, speed-limit-sign recognition, intersection assist, and evasive steering assist. King Ranch and Platinum standardize Co-Pilot Assist 2.0, which adds a surround-view camera system, rear automatic emergency braking, and Active Park Assist 2.0.
• Infotainment: The standard system uses a 12-inch touchscreen, while Sync 4A upgrades to a 15.5-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen. Both systems include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, FordPass Connect with Wi-Fi hotspot access, natural voice recognition, and connected navigation. Sync 4 adds SiriusXM satellite radio, HD Radio, wireless smartphone charging, and premium audio options.
• Fuel efficiency: Fuel economy ranges from 17 mpg to 19 mpg in combined driving, and the test vehicle returned 16.2 mpg on the evaluation loop.

• XL STX: This is the entry point if you want the Expedition’s size and core capability without paying for extra luxury features. It makes sense if you mainly care about space and utility.

• Limited: This is the sweet spot if you want the strongest blend of comfort, technology, and available features. It also unlocks Co-Pilot360 Assist+.
• King Ranch: This trim suits you if you want a more upscale feel and standard Co-Pilot Assist 2.0, including the surround-view camera system and rear automatic emergency braking.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Ford Expedition?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,315 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 19.07% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 81.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $38,562, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Ford Expedition's resale value?

The current average of $38,562 sits slightly below last year's $47,649.

That price drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the current trend means you should expect a more competitive resale environment than last year’s. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment and strong history reports should still attract attention, but pricing will matter.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Ford Expedition safe?

The 2022 Ford Expedition earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, a driver monitoring system, automatic high-beam headlights, and a rear-seat reminder system. Starting with Limited, Co-Pilot360 Assist+ adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-centering assist, speed-limit-sign recognition, intersection assist, and evasive steering assist. King Ranch and Platinum standardize Co-Pilot Assist 2.0, which adds a surround-view camera system, rear automatic emergency braking, and Active Park Assist 2.0.

The lane-centering system can be frustrating in heavier traffic, and the expert evaluation notes that it may issue unnecessary warnings or cancel itself at times.

Should I buy a 2022 Ford Expedition or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 19.07% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 brings updated infotainment tech and a strong expert impression, especially with its turbocharged powertrain and distinctive styling.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $30,041, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $38,562 average.
• It is a practical choice for buyers who need a large SUV for towing, cargo, or passenger duty.

The bottom line: If you want the newer model-year updates, stronger market selection, and a well-liked full-size SUV, the 2022 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 is the more budget-friendly path and still delivers the core Expedition strengths.
